Is it in the clock tower somewhere or is by a second tree with a similar model on the campus grounds?

i think I'm running into a small issue on the quest a squirrels tressure on day one. I can't progress after 17:00 after I find the gem. There is 0 indication of what I'm supposed to do and the quest doesn't update.  I tried talking to the professor that told me to find the nest, but i just get the same line about if i need help with classes. 

where is the master key to get into the daycare?

having the same issues as everyone else, also how exactly does one combat thorn? the other one is easy, it's weeping angel mechanics.

I'm having difficulties getting the game to even open. what is the step by step instructions on how to get it going?
