Hello everyone!
My name is IceMice, and today I want to officially announce the beginning of our indie game studio - IceBoxCrew.
We are a small two-person team: I focus on programming and technology development, while IceClaw is responsible for the artistic side. This is our first public step, and we are starting this journey with a clear goal - creating interesting, heartfelt, and experimental games while eventually helping other developers bring their ideas to life.
For the past two years, we have been working on our main tool - IceBoxEngine, our own 2D game engine that is now ready to enter a new stage.
The main idea behind IceBoxEngine is simple: create a universal and accessible tool that allows developers to build different kinds of 2D games - from small pixel art projects to larger games with modern visuals. We want developers to focus on their creativity and ideas while having a comfortable foundation for development.
IceBoxEngine is built with C++ and uses modern development technologies, including Lua for game scripting and Python for editor tools. The editor and engine are available on Windows, Linux, and macOS, while exported games will support Windows, Linux, macOS, Web, Android, and iOS.
The engine is currently in version 0.8.1 Beta. It is already ready for real game development, but we will continue improving it, fixing possible issues, and expanding its features together with our future community.
In early-to-mid September, we plan to launch sales of the IceBoxEngine Beta on itch.io and start our Kickstarter campaign, where we will share more details about our future plans, engine development, and IceBoxCrew projects.
Thank you to everyone who supports us during this first step. This is only the beginning.
