I didn't even realize until this comment they could drop boss relics because it says in their loot table that they only drop money. I thought the relics would be from some sort of special bosses later that I hadn't found yet.
Does anyone know what triggers the beast tide event? It seems random and I want to go into it prepared.

Once you hit a certain stage they get locked. I think it starts with 10.
It's the green heart that pops up in combat. if you hover over it, it shows what it changes.
