It seems to happen when I enter a new area (medbay, computer center etc), when there's multiple enemies on the screen, or when I'm firing one of the new fancy weapons, basically whenever a lot is happening. But it also sometimes happens randomly when I'm going through an empty corridor.

Hey I've been playing your game and really enjoying it since release. I just updated my sideloaded game to 1.7. It showed up on my playdate as a completely new game. No problem, I deleted the old game and the save, leaving only 1.7, and the game works but now there is intermittent freezing. Like I'm playing the game and it freezes for a second (including sound/music) and then goes forward. It really breaks the rhythm and immersion of the game, which is a shame because it's so great otherwise! Thought you would appreciate this feedback, thanks for making an amazing game anyway!
I have the exact same issue, although I'm using the Gambatte GB emulator on a linux handheld. Nonetheless I'm happy to hear you're gonna try to fix this. Nonetheless the game is a ton of fun when I play the itch io download version on my pc. Can't wait for the update and being able to play it on the go! Keep up the amazing work!
