Sorry to hear that! Are you running the Windows or Linux build? 
This problem can happen on Windows if the entire .rar archive hasn't been fully extracted. Sometimes anti-virus can cause issues too.

Hey! Inspired by your comment, I made a linux build. In the spirit of the jam I've not touched any of the original game content. Unfortunately I can't properly test it, as my virtual linux machine doesn't have graphics acceleration. Let me know if it works! 

Thanks so much for the feedback! I think you're right, the flickery end was the last thing to implement and was done very late at night, totally agree it needs finessing! I really appreciate you playing the game!
