Managed to finish the first quest with the guy who smells and still haven't figured out how to get an animal companion. Anyone have any advice? I'm sure I'm dumb and missed something obvious

Love the game so far! A small bug I've encountered on the patreon version. When redoing the "kill more creatures" task, it won't let me turn in if I have more then 5 of the corrupt crystals, but will let me turn in if I have 11. Not sure why or what's causing it. An amazing game tho and can't wait for more!
