exactly the crawling is great!! i mean, what would be the point of the body horror if the mermaid could just walk around or something? isnt the fear of being stuck in this grotesque new body that robs you of being a human be the entire point?

just finished the demo, definitely needs more polish, but the potential...oh my god
problems i had with it is mostly performance and bug related, basicaly whenever i transition from water to land mode there are major performance drops.also one time i almost got soft locked when trying to get into the water, as my hands could not hit the ground and i was basicaly floating in the air for a bit
i appreciate making so you have to really craw yourself with the triggers and it really does enhance the hopelessness of the situation, but it can get quite tiring to do that for too long
for what i liked the swimming is just amazing, the potential for labyrinthian level design is great, there is so much possibility with the extra verticality and having to solve puzzle switiching from land to water
the presentation is perfect, flawlessly captured the uncanniness of early 2000s pc games, even the ui has so much personality
and as a side note i really appreciate the fear & hunger sound effects, really made me feel as a mermaid that just crawled myself out of the dungeon!
I'M SO HYPED FOR THIS GAME OH MY GOD!!!
finally some mermaid media that understands the constraints of having a body instead of the same old "don't worry the mermaid can just grow legs!" crap
This a dream come true for me personally, the idea of mermaids as body horror is just perfect I mean. In most stories they just grow legs like nothing, but if they can't well...now you are part human, yearns for land, but have this weird fish lower half that bounds you into the ocean,it can TRULY BE terrifying or even hopeless
i'm yet to play it but the concept alone is already a 12\10
