first of all: it's genuinely unreal how good the games for this jam were. truly we called to talk about it and were gushing about literally every single one of these. if you submitted a game to this jam: we read it, we talked about it, we said nice things about it, and we probably at one point said either "no i'm seriously going to play this game" or "no i'm seriously going to import this part of this game into another game and play with it."

and, because we had so many submissions we were so head over heels with, we decided to, in addition to giving out our five awards, name an honorable mention in each category as well! and even with that, there are still so many games we haven't gotten to include which we loved to death, honestly you should just go read all the games, they're all really good.

without further ado!

---
best visual design - Unidentified Feminizing Object

in addition to being an unbelievably cute little experiment in form and function, this thing also looks absolutely stellar. an eye-popping fully illustrated piece of candy, it's as much fun to look at as it is to read.

honorable mention - Prey 4 Mercy

also consider this "the most likely to convince the players to enter a 24/7 D/s relationship," but also well laid out with a slick looking logo tying the whole thing together. so good.

most likely to actually feminize - The Lipstick Game

we're losing it over this one. we've been assured this is a first draft and that more is coming but even as it stands this is one of the hottest things we've ever seen. can't imagine coming away from this one not a woman.

honorable mention - Damn Bro That Sucks, You Should Become A Girl About It

more on this below.

most memorable conception of femininity - Hot Damn Deadly Alien Overlord Au Pair

the joke here is so so funny and it's such a perfect and unique little spin on what forced feminization is and where it might come from. feminization as something which happens not to you, but to your context.

honorable mention - Project FF

the twist on this one is that it's going sissification, which today makes the game feel like something of an aesthetic throwback, the kind of thing you would find on an angelfire page. it's recognizably its own angle, distinct from anything else submitted.

best writing - The Long Dissolve

holy shit what a striking little poem of a game. an instantly captivating artistic voice with so many playful little flourishes (the appendix! the hidden text!), you simply must read it if you have an academic interest in the field.

honorable mention - Escape from the Eve Compound

horrifying! absolutely the blackest comedy imaginable in a little adventure i could never imagine running but desperately want to listen to an actual play for. just a perfect sickening little module.

most affective core system - Damn Bro That Sucks, You Should Become A Girl About It

oh this ROCKS. so quickly gets to the psychology of the characters, has so much fun undermining them, and just generally does its job really really well. we'll both be playing this game and so should you.

honorable mention - Point Venus

using audio in this way is such an ingenious little invention that there should honestly be a hundred games following in its wake. we love its precision, we love its goal. this thing is an absolute gem.

---

and those are our award winners! put 'em on your resume, if you want.

we cannot emphasize enough how many great game there are that we didn't even get to mention here. really do look through all of these and then go look through the rest of the games as well. and then play them and leave some five star reviews.

ok love u bye

gorgeous little experience, and fully voice acted as well?? wonderful. thanks so much!

due to popular demand, we have extended the deadline for this jam by one week. give your games that final bit of polish they need!

so sorry to wait one entire month to get this out! thought i had posted it until just before starting to gear up for our next jam, apologies. this one is on me, amber autumn. but, we're here now with our five award winners!

first of all, we want to thank everyone so so much for participating. we're slightly embarrassed, because we have a confession to make: when we started this jam, we intended for it to be a physical games only jam, and just... forgot to write that in the description. we got some game submissions we are thrilled to have encouraged into the world (i am beyond honored someone made a dyed-in-the-wool sonic inflation game for one of my game jams), but ultimately the world we live in is of analog games and neither of us felt qualified to give prizes out to the video games. if your video game didn't make the cut, we're so sorry, it's nothing personal, and we did play all of them that our hardware would run. i do encourage everybody to poke around there, there is a real swath of interesting stuff.

but now! the winners themselves!

MOST LEFT FIELD IDEA:

Tool Team

i mean, just delightful, right? inventory management puzzles as a core gameplay construct. nothing like any rpg i've ever played, maybe the game out of all eligible games in this set i am most likely to actually play.

MOST ORIGINAL COMBINATION OF IDEAS:

Pestiheist

what else could it have been? you're trying to do a heist but you're also a variety of vermin. just a cute little two-pager which says what it wants to say and gets out.

MOST AFFECTIVE CORE SYSTEM:

Literal Play-by-Post

it's difficult to match the pathos of physically sending a letter to someone far away, describing your life but never quite able to fully share it. this game taps into that and lets you dream your worlds together. gorgeous.

BEST WRITING:

Their Miserable, Greedy Hearts

oh, my heart! it starts from such a strong premise of BEING the wish granter, and the prose and prompts are wall-to-wall evocative as hell from there. it tells such a strong story before you even play it.

BEST VISUAL DESIGN:

Literal Play-by-Post

this was the easiest prize to award, it is extremely uncommon to find a game released on this scale which looks half this good. clean, evocative, professional, i found it hard to believe this wasn't made by an entire games company.

and those are our winners! i would extremely encourage you to check all of them out, and again, if you didn't get an award this time don't worry, we did check out every game submitted and we are so beyond thrilled that you gave this jam a shot. see you all next time!

thank you for saying something so i could find and read your game, this is hilarious

and now, the winners!

everyone says when they run something like this that everyone who submitted did a great job, but while judging it we both genuinely remarked multiple times on how few unkind things we had to say about ANY of the entries. we wanted to give a prize to all 16 entries, genuinely.

but! our pockets are only so deep, and we promised 5 prizes. so without further ado, here they are:

BEST VISUAL TOKEN DESIGN:
Creature Fight
this was the easiest prize to award by far, these tokens are so charming and evocative. the game relies on you caring about these little guys, and we do!

MOST INNOVATIVE TOKEN MECHANIC:
Greensoul Regency
this game makes such efficient use of its tokens, we were both really impressed with how many different uses are squeezed out of a single set of tokens in this game. really slick design here.

BEST WRITING:
Wakeup Call
an art game about frustration with sharp comedy starting from literally the cover. you won't read another game this year with a clearer authorial voice.

MOST ORIGINAL SETTING:
8-ball Corner Pocket
it's pool! a wonderful little piece of ludonarrative synchronicity, using tokens to represent pool balls, and certainly not an environment often depicted in ttrpgs, even if maybe it should be!

MOST AFFECTIVE CORE SYSTEM:
Tiles and True Names
"fun" is an affect as well! the core spelling system is just far too engaging and compelling to ignore, what a pitch-perfect play paradigm. definitely do not miss this one.

SPECIAL MENTION:
Sar-Stan
while not technically a prize winner, we wanted to take a moment to highlight a particularly excellent design which didn't happen to be the right fit to win any of the specific categories we set up. mechanically robust, narratively compelling, visually beautiful, and overall an extremely polished work.

again, thank you all for your contributions. these games were all so cool. if you're reading this, you should go check some of them out! (your cohosts also made a pair of games which we did not consider eligible for these prizes, by the way. you may want check those out as well!)

if you won something, please reach out! through social media or direct messages if you know us, or our emails are listed on the jam's main page. the original prize listed was some tokens and stickers so you could realize your game, but this doesn't apply to all the games. if that's you, just let us know, we can work some equivalent out.

that's all for now! hope to see you again for our next game jam in january...

16 entries, woah!!!!

thank you all for participating, we've taken a cursory look through and we're both genuinely feeling really energized and delighted by the breadth of games on display here. these are so, so cool.

we've looked through the games briefly and we hope to be announcing the prize winners in a few days!!

hi! yes, you can order it print-on-demand through drive-thru rpg (or if that link doesn't work we can dm something out, amber autumn still has a million physical copies sitting in her room).
