you should be able to leave on the right side of the slums, go to the spot where the cart was and go right.

So I'm a bit late posting this, but something I found out about on the the android version on the game is that a dual tap will back you out of menus and any conversations you could normaly exit. Don't think it works on cutscenes if you want to try different responses, proably have to do that the old fasion way by going to a earler save.
