I just want to say thank you for keeping your mods up in a place that can still be dled. I hope life is treating you well now, I've been a big fan for a long time.

I have considered it, albeit it's a dead market sadly since they're mostly and rightfully disregarded. I do try to champion new and good ideas when I truly enjoy them though when I can or just games that need more recognition and give feedback to help polish it. Game journalism is a joke half the time these days so you're probably right on that lol.
Edit: and thanks btw. Have a great day. c:
Thanks, I want this game to succeed and have people give it a chance! I almost didn't but I'm glad my friend and the community was pretty friendly.
And I'm not sure honestly as I saw you post it earlier. I'm going to presume you hit apply settings when you change stuff but it should save it afterward? Not to be insulting or anything but I'll check that off the list. While I've had a seasoned playthrough myself, I'm unfamiliar with any bugs that may be within it. What OS and graphics card do you use or is it integrated into the CPU?
My review as of the current build of 0.5.2.
There are no real spoilers in this, but just my advice and my experience with the game and community.
Playtime: I played 35 hours and unlocked sandbox mode and I intend to do a deeper dive into the game, as there is a lot to cover, secrets, easter eggs, mystery. I was going to do 48 hours but I think 35 hours is enough to give a proper opinion on it and the current state.
First Impressions: I will be honest that my end first impression I think the game is good, something truly special and added upwards to the likes of my other favorites albeit different genres such as Dwarf Fortress, Dark Wood, Caves of Qud of truly unique experiences that you don't get to see too often anymore in the gaming space that usually found in indie devs only now, but it wasn't like that at first. I will say that it is slow, you have to go in realizing that it is slow at first anyway, I didn't realize this until talking to a friend and many of the community giving me advice or telling me to keep going. The only advice I followed though, was to keep going, so I did. I suggest the same for anyone else, this is a game that I don't think you might guarantee like or dislike, but it is a good game nonetheless. It just has little direction to begin with, really, you need to figure out what it wants you to do other than the signals and tasks and I won't say what, but there is a mystery you need to delve into. And focus on working on managing your hunger even if it slows the game down considerably at first as that will be your main objective while upgrading your station, just remember that crates and rocks are your friend early on, though I had no real trouble in my first playthrough. I just needed a different mentality when going in, as I just expected this to pan out like most games.
Overview: This game is a time consuming content beast even as a demo, and incredibly atmospheric and overall I found it pretty fun in the end and surprised this much was available with only a demo, I will pay for the full game should it ever release and on the first release full of the game I plan on donating if it's free, as there's a lot to do from minigames with the arcade machine, popping wheelies on the dirt bike or drifting down from the Sierra hill at high speeds to bungee jumping off the base's tower among many other exploits when you reach a point where points and resources don't exactly matter, as I don't want to list ALL of the side objectives/what you can do with the digital camera, the drone or the cameras and what you see as it's pretty intensive nonetheless. It takes time getting there, but I find myself wanting to return to it already to see more in infinite mode after doing story mode, as I wouldn't say it's hard or requires a lot of skill, but it has multiple steps. You need to meet those steps before getting into the real girth of the game which accompanies it as signals are the main part of the game and story in many ways, but so is exploration. Just get a feel of the map is my advice for probably the more difficult but fine cut part of the game when using the dirt bike, as there are tools, resources that you can easily make use of. You have all the tools you need to begin with and can buy even more tools for any aspect you may find hard, even the most difficult parts of the game I feel like you can do relatively easy and learn pretty quickly though. It's just moving forward from Day 1 you may feel like nothing is happening other than day in and day out even hours into the game not knowing what to expect, as that was my biggest problem is that on my playthrough, nothing really happened until around day 6-9, then things starting heating up super fast, I suggest using the starting days to upgrade your station and using spare time exploring the base with the help of a rock and getting a feel for the basics of what it expects of you. You'll get it once you realize what I mean, as I don't want to say too much as I've said.
Conclusion: I was relatively gentle with my starting comment as I knew this was a demo going in that you may find further below. I do feel like hunger CAN bog down the game at first if you're new to this game but it's simply the early game as I wanted to explore the map and try to figure out what was going on with all that it put in front of me. Instead when I realized to change directions, I was getting the payout I was looking for by first building myself up a little, then as things became less of an issue and I grew used to all of the systems rather than having a moderate grasp on them to survive, do my tasks and make credits at first. THEN I could explore more easily once I had a proper grasp going forward, I think it was just me stumbling upon a certain location in the earliest days while repairing something pretty far out that made me want to go out and explore more to figure out was going on, then realizing just how much of a task that was while also balancing credit income had felt more of a chore until my station was more efficient.
What I really feel like now, is that perhaps for the tutorial, it should instead be of what I see advice that many people give: doing a few days to figure out how to play, but instead relatively sped up and perhaps given a few more direct pointers in what direction to go in. Perhaps even taking the role of one of the previous people at the site that you work in before you for something more cinematic. Then otherwise, other than polish? It feels all around pretty solid once you really get into it, as even as a demo, it's a special game indeed and I highly suggest you give it a chance. As I do want it to succeed, but this is my genuine start to finish experience and what I plan in my continuation.
Community: looking through the replies, most of the people are pretty nice and will probably help you without spoiling things, there are a few here and there I noticed that are not too bright in potentially scaring off newcomers with, but I've seen similar things in the Dwarf Fortress Community to newcomers who complain so expect that potentially if you have criticism of it wording it vaguely or harshly, but I think it'd be a dick move myself to completely rip on a demo which imo could be considered a full game. I even had a few dms from one person myself after my first comment lol, but the mass majority are extremely helpful from what I've seen. But overall this game doesn't deserve to be mocked or said that it's bad like I've seen a few here and there or too intense complaining as I don't think hunger should be removed as I've seen a few say, but I do feel like with a proper pull and direction it'd be more friendly in that aspect of what it expects of you and gives something to chew on metaphorically but also literally ingame as I don't think it needs to change at it's core, I just think the focus needs a bit of help for when it first starts. Which I assume will change anyway, but I do want to thank my friend and a few others that tried to help, as it did encourage me to keep playing that I had just needed to deep dive a little bit more.
My own personal feelings though:
It is a banger of a game that I want to see succeed and maybe be the start of something more. Maybe a genre as I did read that it was inspired off another game. Many thanks to the dev and their team/asset providers for making the demo and making it so available for people to try out, it was a smart move on your part as you really do need to get a good bite into it before realizing how good it really is.
If you looked at my other comments you'd see my opinion has changed. The game itself isn't hard and it never really was to me, there are just a lot of steps to the game. If you actually read what I had originally said, nowhere did I say I had trouble 'with the game'. It's just a slow burn game which I did not realize at first, but did end up liking it later as the hunger aspect wasn't difficult to manage. It was just my biggest focus to manage early on, however, to which influenced my first impressions several hours in.
Reading comprehension is key.
Yeah after talking to my friend group and one of my best friends who actually happened to play it as well. Told me to keep going so I did, I ended up loving the game. I'll post my review at the end of the week or so of it's current state, as I'll give a non-biased take but I do think it's something special now that I've further explored it and just got used to the hunger aspect. 27 hours in so far.
I'll give it a 48 hours of gametime then, see if I like it then. If I don't, I don't think it's badly made, it's actually pretty good and seems p alright in terms of optimization and design other than the hunger aspect, I'd rather it be slower and just straight up die when it hits 0 for my own tastes, but that may just be me- I'll see my opinion as I sunk in around 4 to 5 hours of playtime beforehand. I figured it might be one of those types where it's a hit or miss for me but I have to dig down into it to see. I'll try again when I have time but thanks, I scrolled a lot of the comments since then.
'I'll be honest. I played this for a few hours and the hunger really bogs down the game for me to the point where I don't really care to play more? Maybe make it less of a focus in the future.' -Old Original Comment.
Edit: this comment is considered obsolete and as I keep getting people who simply reply without reading my convos with other people on it. I've made a review further up on version 0.5.2. As I was considerably gentle with this originally considering it was a demo, I do look forward to further versions of it, however. As I did dig deeper after being encouraged by a friend and a few convos with some others did have me realize what this game was actually about in terms of focus.
My full thoughts are available somewhere upward if you actually want to see them as I'm not taking this down.
