What a fantastic game! I facilitated it at an online con using the playingcards assets (btw. they are working flawlessly).
All of us loved the game. The story was so strong, the relationships between the musicians totally dysfunctional, and everyone died in the end. I guess running from the devil is not the best plan in the end :)
Thanks for this gem!
What a wonderfull game. We played this with 3 Player (each controlled one faction with 2 PCs). This set-up worked like a charm for us.
The Characters and Moves are written just perfectly! They are super evocative and give so many ides.
We had such a dramatic story, a lot of back-stabbing, intruige, grandeur, omens and a super dramatic night-phase with the total destruction and downfall of house Prosh!
Clear 5 Stars for me.
Played this last friday, and it was an absolute blast. I couldn't prep anything, but the character and school creation, the prompts for the GM and the questions gave me so much to built on top, it was an easy to run session.
I also had the best charakter names ever in my group: Quäks-a-lot, an easily distracted duck, that enjoyed sounds very much. Sir Hazel-a-Nut a squirrel that was looking for it's misplaced zylinder.
My players wanted to play part 2 of our imaginary TV-Series right away. I'm very sure magical pets will be on my table again, quite soon.
As a former Chess Player I really had a hard time wrapping my head around what the game wants to do, but after reading it 3 times, setting up my board and just trying it in 'solo' mode I think I'm in love with this game =)
Just one think, that'd be interesting: How long does a Fake Chess game usually take? From just reading it, I have the impression it plays rather fast (~1hr).
