Shift 7 should work for the star on any keyboard. I looks like the developer is looking for a keycode rather than the appropriate character press unfortunately.

After loading the game for the first time, going through the dialogue and entering the station, I typed Esc and clicked Exit Game. I was rewarded with a crash popup.
