I was running it directly from the zip download before. I can confirm it works if you install from the itch app.

I still get the spinner on "New Character". I'm running macOS Sierra 10.12.6. It says "Version 14" on the Mannequin download site (updated 8 hours ago..about when you posted this.) The version file says v1.6.11

Using the stable version for now, because I couldn't get past selecting Open or New. You get the "wait" spinner indefinitely.
