replayed again and am i crazy for thinking bb and lane know each other?
NOW HEAR ME OUT like i could just be grasping at straws but was trying out different routes and i remember that if u take the bus home instead of going with bb, amelia stops you and asks if you still call lane by his name, implying he goes by a nickname. but if you let bb drop you off and give your phone number, he tries out texting acronyms and comes up with "wz."
and earlier when you're cleaning the bathroom, the toilet bowl says "w and z were here" and it has the same face as the one on bb's skull tattoos on his hands and helmet. and when you click on it mc kinda gets a faint memory of a voice saying "if you ever get tired of these losers around here, i'll take you to the moon. i swear." seeing as the text was red we can assume it's bb, since he's the only character who's text turns red in certain dialogues.
now back to when you're at the bus stop waiting for the bus. when bb approaches you, depending on what route you're going, you start talking about the sky and how empty it is. you say it's stupid but bb immediately understands and you reveal that you love the moon. so to put those two together, it's safe to say that whoever is under the helmet had a close enough relationship with mc to know she likes the moon.
it's also been exactly one month since mc started working at the mad dog convenience store. (october 17 2009 - november 17 2009) bb's last message thread is a month old. [ the message thread is not completely related to my theory just something i thought i should point out. ]
i'm going to assume that within this time frame, "the incident" happened that not only ruined our friendship with amelia but caused some memory loss. which would explain why mc gets these moments of familiarity but can't place it, like in the bathroom or when they wear the red helmet. i put it within this time frame because mc started their job on october 17th yet when they talk to amelia in the cafe they seem to still be on good terms and they talk about their job but it's november 16/17th when we see their current standing.
which brings me back to the "wz" text.
w and z could possibly be lane and bb. HEAR ME OUT. i only say this because we don't know bb's name or the nickname lane goes by. but if this is true and mc, bb, and lane were somehow friends and then "the incident" happened it could be that it was bad enough to split up their group. bad enough that amelia would hold a grudge for what happened between us and her brother.
which also explains why bb wears his helmet because if he was worried about mc recognizing him he could just wear a face mask since her faulty memory wouldn't help her put the pieces together to recognize him. the helmet not only covers his face but muffles his voice.
but if it's not lane, w and z would have to be bb and mc or at least connected to them, and to see it in the bathroom means they would have to hang out at this store often enough to feel the need to tag it. so lane either knows him personally or at the very least know of him before whatever went down.

you have to clean the bathroom and then walk out to the alley and go to the employee back door. when you go back inside the store, an old man shows up and when you're done talking to him, it unlocks another feature in aisle 3 and will ask you to continue the story

redownloaded and tried doing an all lane route and got the bad ending instead.... i feel so bad for mc 😭😭😭😭 also am i super slow or are amelia and lane siblings?
love love love everything about it! the art, plot, characters were done so well. you can tell how much care went into making the game. i wouldn't mind if the creators did a more elaborate storyline with this game.
i am curious if we will ever find out more about the crown’s parents other than what they found in the mountains. i was just wondering since the followers of vidarna have the ability to manipulate the “dead” (for a lack of a better word) and use them to their advantage, such as trying to murder the crown, is there a chance they might come back, or are they really dead and gone?
DAMN I LOVE THIS GAME SO MUCH AND ABSOLUTELY CAN'T WAIT FOR THE NEXT UPDATE!!! also the fact that his body wasn't found gives me some hope that maybe he'll show up in the later acts, but that just makes me even sadder for mc who quite literally is living thru each day w the same kind of mindset even tho the chances of him coming back are non existent(lowkey reminds me of the plot of astro boy AND THAT MOVIE SHATTERED ME AS A CHILD)
I do agree that while I was hoping that the Dark Queen would have a more fulfilling ending, I still think she was able to achieve this change.
As you said, "Change doesn't have to be something massive, changing little things is still change," and for her, she's stated multiple times that she was fated to be the Dark Queen and that nothing will change this. She even tries to get the hero to accept this "truth," but as time goes on, she slowly starts to falter, to the point she questions why the hero is so confident she can be defeated. At this moment, she's already questioning what she believes to be indisputable.
She has also mentioned that there have been others who have tried to bring her down, and still, she's never had to put in any effort. But in the last battle with the hero, she is seen giving her all, something she probably has never done before, which is another change that she experiences that disrupts her normal routine of things.
In her last moments, as she's coming to terms with the fact that her end is near, and it's thanks to the hero, she can accept her death. I think the fact that the hero was able to change her mind about having to stay with this undying, unforgiving tyrant is the change she needed , and while bittersweet, I think the ending was very fitting.
I also just wanted to say I played your other game, The Dark Queen of Mortholme, and honestly, it was so well made. Not only was the art very aesthetically pleasing, but the storyline was so good and all of it came together beautifully. As cheesy as it may sound, despite the way life has beaten me down lately, after seeing the way the ending played out for the Dark Queen, I finished playing the game feeling very hopeful for what may come in the future. Hope was something I thought I had lost and wouldn't find for quite some time and I want to say thank you for that.
thought I could find something funnily ironic abt this game, seeing as I'm coming up on month 2 of unemployment and becoming anxiously desperate after getting no responses, only to find out this game is literally me 😭😭 after getting fired, I tried drawing as a "hobby," maybe hoping I'd get better at it, try to find something on youtube right before I go to bed so I'd have something to distract me, only for an ad to pop up and think how good it would be if I could time travel so I can fix the mess it is I call my life.

THE WAY THERE WAS SOME SORT OF HIDDEN ALTERNATE UNIVERSE WHERE THEY MEET AT THEIR OFFICE JOBS WITH THE FATED SOULMATES/ENEMIES TO LOVERS TROP, IN THE STRING ON THE TITLE PAGE, WHEN IT TURNS RED WAS SO CLEVER AND SUCH A NICE SURPRISE!!!! EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS GAME WAS SO NICE AND WELL-EXECUTED FROM THE STORYLINE TO THE ART!! I LOVE EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS GAME
there were a million things i could've guessed about what shady things cirrus was involved in AND NONE OF IT WOULD'VE BEEN CLOSE TO WHAT IT REALLY WAS (love the game sm tho <3) cant wait for the next update :)
