Don't know if you're still working on this, but it works well for me in Firefox on Windows. I did enjoy the mining, although mining in the "up" direction or "up and to the side" involved pressing the buttons in a very specific order before it would start working (I had to press the mouse first, then "up" and then hold "jump" to go up continuously). That need to sequence did not come naturally. Otherwise, it does feel fun!
