I think the exploration aspect is really fun, so it'd be fun to have random generated things - broken statues, old ruins. They'd add a lot of atmosphere to the game, and they'd make great landmarks (I'm terrible with directions so I ended up digging X's in the ground with my shovel as waypoints.)
