So sorry about the lack of clarity!! It was meant to have 3 gears each side collectively adding up to a "5" on the pipe, and so when it would ask 3 gears + 3 gears, it would be essentially 5+5. Sorry again for the inconvenience, BUT i updated it to have George supply better hints (and a direct answer at one point) for those on that very same puzzle.

honestly the intro made me think i was in for a rather long game but i actually enjoyed how it was short and sweet! Very nice!
