Hello everyone!
I’ve just released World Shaper, a free solo tabletop game about exploring, shaping, and drawing a world.
There’s something slightly ironic about calling it procedural, because there’s no computer involved. No algorithms, no screens, no fancy technology. Just a few blank cards, a D8, some paper, and a pen or pencil.
The game uses a simple procedural system to generate the territories you discover. At each step, you choose where you want to go and one aspect of the landscape you want to influence. The dice determine the rest. You then interpret the combination and draw the landscape that emerges.
There’s no story to follow, no score, and no victory or defeat. Your goal is simply to create a world, one small piece at a time.
And the world stays with you. The maps you draw become part of the world and can be used in future games, allowing new journeys to continue where previous ones left off.
The world is not an answer to be found. It is a landscape to be imagined.
The game is completely free, and you can start your journey with very little: some paper, a few blank cards, and whatever you like to draw with.
I hope you’ll have fun exploring and shaping your own worlds.
And if you play it, I’d really love to hear what you think. Feedback, impressions, unexpected interpretations, things that worked or didn’t work, strange landscapes you ended up creating… all of it is useful.
Have a good journey, and enjoy your world!
