I can't seem to hook onto the atv and drag heavy props around, is there a new way of doing that?

Grabbing bricks from the drone can glitch, sending the super heavy block flying within a 50m radius of the base.

Gotta position yourself juuuuust right

Edit: It seems like  Okay so I did 2 things at once:

  • Started a fresh appdata folder / generated new configs
  • Linux: Created a new proton profile in Steam under experimental rather than hotfix (which triggered the above)

Everything works, TV took some spam but I got video feed on channel_00. Others are saying that the below was all it took to fix it for them, others had no luck. I have yet to see more than 1 Linux comment amongst everyone sharing issues so I imagine it's the config. If you are one of these unfortunate few, you might have to delete your config folder and start fresh. If you do, ensure you back-up all data before deleting anything.

First step is to, right before you load your save, validate that the option is enabled (ofc). It is located in the individual save-file options rather than in the game options now. If you can even toggle it then the option is working, it's normally highlighted red and unselectable until you finish Day 7

If it's enabled and you're still experiencing problems, perhaps the issue carried over from 0.9a and you might have it disabled in 0.8's config setting.

For some reason the config option from 0.8  still seems to affect 0.9 saves. Reload, change or at least validate that hijinx didn't occur, and pray bcuz that's all I got at the moment.

Hope you figure it out!

Are you referring to the new moon (black circle), or something else?

Some neat tricks I've discovered and seen while perusing reddit:

  • It's profitable to let concrete dry-out and destroy/sell the resulting slab rubble.
  • With the new UV light you can use the wall builder to create a floor of dirt inside base for farming. Everyone was doing crazy builds in the garage, but the janitor closet is great and out of the way if you don't mind hallway hose.
  • While scanning for signals, pressing the buttons to change coordinates will immediately stop and transfer velocity. No need to slow down for micro adjustments. During the final adjustments, press the yellow button on-screen to lock-in. It switches to the triangulated yellow-square, which is irrelevant for scanning AFAIK.

  • In the event that it doesn't get patched, nail the keyboard/mouse  into the desk. Physics-events can permanently wedge the keyboard (the noise... my save is ruined q.q) and the mouse is required to be up-right for use. Otherwise be mindful and use F6 to create multiple saves. Always good practice regardless.
  • ATV tips 1, you can do jumps without damaging tires but simply bumping a tiny rock will cause damage. Listen for the sfx that plays and be mindful to avoid it in the future.
  • ATV tips 2, solar panel currently regenerates batteries from nothing for infinite battery profit. Use this if you will, will likely be patched.
  • If you are spatially-challenged as I am, summon the drone before going out on adventures. You will always hear the sweet purring of home, making it harder to get lost. :')

V.0.8.2C

Using the 'precise placement' / Shift+Alt with a glowstick will keep the first glowstick you placed in memory for an undetermined amount of time. Using the feature with any other object including future glowsticks will viciously pull the initial glowstick to the object's location.

This does not happen when placing glowsticks with Alt+R.

Keeping this separate since you mentioned drivers... just in case you're a nvidia user like me, the popshop wouldn't let me install drivers beyond 470.256.02 and it's STILL prompting me to install it despite my manual installation of 565.77

That was the duct-tape I was referring to. I'm not sure what the average user experience is for Nvidia drivers, but might as well get all the eggs in a row, eh?

I'm not sure if this'll help, but here's my limited understanding...

Each game that you run on Steam via each separate version of proton, and I think this includes wine in general, will be running its own windows environment and that includes its own dependencies. So if you added VotV to steam as a non-steam game and try to run it with Proton, it will set up this new environment without any dependencies like C++... DirectX... .Net Framework, etc... Probably something like that.

So it's super important in the case of steam to... Hover over the game title in your library -> RMB -> Properties ->Shortcut -> Target -> Browse -> [/home/freyr05/Games/pa0082_0012/pa0082_0012/WindowsNoEditor/Engine/Extras/Redist/en-us/UE4PrereqSetup_x64.exe] -> Click PLAY

The above is the route to my destination. It ran an installer and I let it do its thing. It looks like I tried running every other .exe available before realizing I needed to reinstall Steam from the terminal rather than the PopShop.

If you get an error message beyond the C++ one, then it'll be related to the Steam installation, but for now try doing the above if things still aren't working.

BONUS - Windows Environment Location: /home/freyr05/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/3915131074/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/AppData/Local/VotV... The .steam folder will be hidden by default so make sure you enable display hidden files in your file explorer. You might know this, but I'll add it for incoming users as well. Numerical location might be different; I organized by most recent folder since it was brand new as a cheat.

I also actually wasn't sure if the initial paragraph was true, so as a test I ran VoTV under Proton 8.05 (fresh) and it prompted the installation process of C++. It actually auto-ran the installer this time? Maybe because I'm using the alternative version of Steam now? Hard to say, but I hope some of this helps in any capacity.

This broke the seal for me, so I finally decided to figure out why Steam wasn't working for me but worked for some people...

When I first installed Linux, I somehow installed 2 versions of Steam - the deb and the flatpak version.

Apparently flatpaks have less privilege and this is causing issues. So I purged both! I did it in an incredibly awful way as I bounced through tutorials, initially doing
[dpkg --list]   ... Yes I manually purged anything that said Steam, I think this was mayhaps not the best option as when I installed steam with [sudo apt install steam], it didn't even boot anymore. Yikes!

So naturally I searched for my problem and found this steam thread: https://steamcommunity.com/app/221410/discussions/0/3094509155628372846/

I'm sure there was some redundancy, but I followed 1, 3, 5, 6, then input [steam] into the terminal. It worked! I noticed it removed more libs than I had managed with my initial purging, probably related XD
EVEN BETTER, THE GAME BOOTED! I don't know if that's because previously I had run the UE4PrereqSetup_x64.exe and finished the installation, which got rid of my C++ runtime error, but that's what learnin' on the jobs all about.

I noticed exit didn't work, so there will likely be some issues. Someone mentioned on reddit that their TV didn't work?

I hope this helps my Linux homies out there. I'm using Pop OS LTS with some duct-tape to make Nvidia work. Best of luck!

Edit: I forgot to mention, I also run it with Compatibility: Proton Experimental

RogueLove community · Created a new topic The 'H' Key?

Whenever I press H, the hud disappears. Very cool , I love being able to toggle the hud on and off, except it's a one-way switch. I've pressed every key individually and attempted a lot of combiniations with H, but I couldn't get the hud to return. Meaning I can't see my magic, upgrade my stats, learn spells, etc. Is this just a bug on my end?

It'd be really cool if it went through 3 stages too, being full, minimalistic, and none.
