Hi! I’m developing HEATFORGE, a free browser game about building a compact fortress and watching its modules work together. I’m looking for fresh eyes on the learning curve and difficulty.

Can your build survive all 8 waves?

Play HEATFORGE on itch.io — no download or signup needed. Mouse and touch are supported; portrait is recommended on phones.

Fit turrets, heat coils, arc emitters and support modules onto a small platform. Gunfire produces heat, coils turn it into charge, and arcs unleash chain lightning. Combat is automatic, so your placement and spending decisions do the work. New modules unlock as you progress, with upgrades and a boss in the final wave.

If your core falls, you can restore the exact state before that wave, change your layout and try again. You don’t have to replay the earlier waves.

I’d especially like feedback on:

  • What was the first thing that confused you while building or fighting?
  • Which wave stopped you? What did you change before retrying, or what made you stop playing?
  • If you cleared wave 8, what did your final build look like? A screenshot would be great, but isn’t required.

Even feedback from the first few waves is useful — finishing the challenge is optional. Please mention whether you played on a computer or phone. You can reply here or use the in-game feedback form; no exported playtest file is needed.

I’m directing the design, balance and playtesting, with AI assistance for code, artwork and text. This is an early playtest, and I’d appreciate honest criticism. Thanks for trying it!
