Hello! This is probably the first time I’ve ever written a legitimate review for something, so please excuse me if I get a little tangenty plus this was long overdue anyways lol.
I should start off by saying that LLRPG has become one of my favorite games of all time, I've always loved games/stories that speak of the human (or you could also say "anthro") condition, so when I found out randomly on an August evening that someone made "transsexual furry disco elysium" I bought it. Well really it was the half-assed steam trailer that pushed me to do so. Unfortunately the memory of my first playthrough is basically dust after my freshman studies executed them by firing squad, so I can't speak much on what my initial experience was like. All I can read from the dust is: good, funny, homoerotic, tall lady, various other ladies, and find the area underneath the curve with integration. So, I think making this review about the lasting impact the game has had on me would be more worthwhile.
Visually the game is AMAZING, seriously Mia your artstyle is great, the hatching you do on top of your painting really makes the game feel warm and fuzzy, and it pissed me off that the best i could say was "yes" when I was asked about how you did on the map (no shade intended). I can definitely see the visual inspiration that DE had on the game, but I'm glad that it keeps itself distinct through its different approach of character portraits and its brighter colors. By all means, the visual style of LLRPG can be described as scrungly and whimsical, but there's enough range for it to still work during serious or filthy scenes. Favorite artwork has to be from the church or the woods, very churchy and very woodsy respectively.
The game also doesn't disappoint in terms of its writing. The worldbuilding that Poppy has done is nothing short of impressive considering that this is all being done by one person. I love how each character's struggle is something very heart wrenching while Ghost is just there being proactive and silly to help them out (very much a polite homework girl). Yet at the same time Orb, Lovely lady, and Nasty Girl are all trying to steer Ghost, in most cases unsuccessfully. But I can't blame her, she wants to see the women who were hurt by circumstance smile, even if it means being a weird bottom that likes knife-play, armpits, feet, and piss, hell she'll even try to throw herself into absolution. I hope that all the lovely ladies Ghost meets on her outings smile from her scrunglyness, and she inspires me to do the same, probably without the absolution though. Again, simply wonderful.
But out of everything in the game, The Sinner had the most profane impact on me. Cutting off all the obvious reasons as to why I would love her, I think seeing the way that The Sinner changes from the beginning of the game, to the scene where they encounter the 7th made me admire her more. I'm glad that she isn't just a lost cause that you have to give up on, Ghost knows that there is still hope for her, and it makes me smile that The Sinner sees that hope too. She's a long way from perfect, but I think it's her imperfections that I love about her character. But for the obvious reasons, The Sinner uncovered my armpit fetish on August 29th, 2025 and now I own a magenta handkerchief. Speaking of which, I can't tell if finding magenta in a wet damp cave is alluding to armpits. Maybe, maybe not.
LLRPG will forever be one of the most influential games I’ve ever played. It exists as something so unapologetically and authentically transbian, and I cite it for the many ways it helped me in my transition. I’m excited for Waterhead after playing Hungerwinter, and it was nice to see that Ghost is now happily married. I’m unsure if we’ll ever visit this corner of the Ladyverse again, as it seems like the DLC’s ship has sailed, but with the game being about moving on, I’m still happy that this game even exists. Thank you Poppy and Mia, you made a bopper ass game.
Final note: There’s a file called generic_finalage.jpg, and I believe that it was never used in the final game, it looks like its related to The Sinner and I was wondering where it would’ve shown up
