Thank you so much! We’re glad you enjoyed it and that the tutorial gave good guidance. Happy to hear you like the visuals too! We really wanted to get the windows 95/98 aesthetic. 😁

Thank you for playing!

Great job with this! Kudos as well with the color palette. Red and black are trickier colors to use than people realize. You were able to balance everything nicely and have them still be easy on the eyes.

Wanted to give a bit of feedback. This is just a small ui note, and not a deal breaker at all, but I suggest for the typing effect, have the lines fixed instead of dynamically adjusting as the letters/words appear.  It’ll make it easier to read.

Once again, amazing job, and congratulations on finishing the jam!

Love how you balanced the incremental progression with the looming dread. The use of jumpscares was just right as well!

Great job, and congratulations on finishing the jam!

Thank you so much! Really appreciate the feedback. We went over the tutorial a lot to make sure that the guidance was there but still be balanced with the gameplay.

Congrats on making it to 15 minutes! May we ask what you were able to unlock by then?

Thanks for playing, and we’re glad you had fun!

A round of applause! All the elements (visuals, sound, and gameplay) worked really well together to create a really engaging experience.

Definitely going to try playing all the characters!

Great job, and congratulations on finishing the jam!

Great job with the visuals! It really sets the tone of the game. The physics added the extra touch as well.

I also ran into some input lag, but it’s something I’m sure can be fixed after the jam’s over.

Once again, great job, and congratulations on completing the jam!

Amazing job! The art and the frantic gameplay quirk together really well to give you a sense of dread. The mechanics are well balanced that you get into a rhythm and flow.

A small feedback I have would be that even if there’s the battery, having some additional indicators for power would help with the general flow just so that it helps remind you as a player to at least check the battery.

But again, great job, and congratulations on finishing the jam!

Hello, thank you so much for your comment! Apologies for the delayed response, but we are so grateful for the feedback.

Happy to hear that you like the story so far, as well as the art. I focused up and made as much of the backgrounds as possible in the first two days of the jam (backgrounds and sprites), so that most of what we needed for the story was there. I think I only needed to add the cliffside background while we were in the programming stage. Glad that the soft style worked for you! We really wanted it to contrast with the mystery side of the story, while bringing both together with the music.

Noted on the typo! We'll definitely comb through our script again once we develop it more.

We actually had settings sliders planned, unfortunately there were inconsistent glitches during testing so we had to take it out for the initial push. Rest assured that it's something we plan to have for an update version though!

And yes, in terms of connecting with the theme, while we hinted at it in the intro, we do acknowledge it might not be as obvious. We were happy to take the risk though as to not spoil what we have planned for the story.

Thank you again for your comment, and we hope to get more updates out for this soon

Hello! Apologies for the late response, but we're happy to hear that you liked the start to the story!

Thank you for noting the typos and sound effects. We'll comb through the script since we definitely want to continue the story.

Thank you for playing!

Great job on adding a lot of variety, especially in just 7 days!

My main feedback would be that the gameplay would benefit from having clearer indicators for elements you can interact with. It doesn’t have to be too obvious, but noticeable enough when scanning around.

Great job, and congratulations on completing the jam!

Always love choose your own story mechanics!

I think my only feedback would be to have clearer indicators when you’re going down certain paths and once you’ve hit the ending. I thought the game froze but saw that it was the ending after checking the comments.

But all in all, great job, and congratulations on finishing the jam!

Thank you! We really wanted to get the contrast of a cozy setting with the cosmic horror + mystery story.

Glad you liked the setup! We would have wanted to write a bit more, but some irl stuff happened. We made sure to hit the most important narrative beats that present all the important elements in the intro since those are what we really aligned with the themes. We’re definitely interested in developing this further after the jam, and are excited at seeing people interested in more!

Thank you for playing, and thank you for hosting the jam! Looking forward to participating in future ones as well.

Thank you! We really wanted to get the cozy feeling of a coastal town to contrast with the cosmic horror element of the story.

Thanks for playing!

Amazing job on having everything come together! The graphics look great, and of course the cat's design has such an amazing balance of cosmic entity while still being cute.

Quick question, I was instinctively playing it like a rhythm game and mostly pressing the keys when they'd get to the bottom of the screen, but would notice that the game would accept it even if pressed them really early. Was that intentional?

Again, great job, and congratulations on finishing the jam!

Love these investigative types of games, and you did a really good job with balancing the progression as well! Will definitely be interested in a longer version if you decide on making it.

Congratulations on completing the jam!

Truly amazing atmosphere that you were able to achieve with this! The progression was good as well and everything was really immersive.

I don't know if it was just my settings, but sometimes the sound effects could get a bit loud. Not a dealbreaker, but just enough to be noticed.

Otherwise, great job, and congratulations on finishing the jam!

Thanks so much! We really wanted the visuals to give the cozy vibe so that it contrasts with the themes and the mystery in the narrative. We have a lot of notes that we could work with to continue this project, so there's a definite possibility that we continue!

Thanks for playing!

Happy to hear you liked it! We would have loved to keep going with the story, but we had to make sure we could complete something within the game jam's time limit. That's why we decided to take the most important narrative pieces to the story and create a demo that introduces the foundation of the story.

Glad you liked the art! Yes, all of it was created within the week and was really fun to do. I made full use of layer effects and styling  to get alternate versions of an image. For the sprites, I put the faces on different layers from the body so that I could get the different expressions.

Thanks for playing!

Thank you! Happy to hear that you like the narrative style, we really wanted to strike the balance of giving the players just enough info to start putting things together without giving things away, but also making sure we give enough info for a shorter jam game.

Thanks for playing!

Really love the visuals for this one! Everything comes together to set the tone of unsettling cozy gameplay. Definitely looking forward to updates if you decide to develop it further.

Great job, and congratulations on completing the jam!

Really like how you implemented the theme into this! You really get the sense of dread as you lose skills. I agree with Bit Bet though that this might benefit from controller support if you decide to develop it further after the jam.

Great job, and congratulations on completing it!

Thank you! We definitely have a lot of story beats that we haven’t covered yet to keep everything concise, but we’re happy to hear people like the story so far!

Lucky can be too curious for his own good. 😅 It’s why we have Michael carrying him around on his sprite.

Happy to hear you like the story and art, and thanks for playing!

Amazing work with the monochromatic styling combined with the sounds! It really worked with setting the atmosphere and tone of the story.

Congratulations on finishing the jam!

I applaud the atmosphere you achieved here. You really feel small in a vast space with everything just looming.

Great job and congratulations on finishing the jam!

Aww, look at the little guy. Can’t help but root for it!

Fun concept in relation to the theme, and the sounds really added to the overall experience! I think my main feedback would be to look into play-testing the timer a bit more, especially if you want to encourage stealthing. But overall a fun experience!

Great job, and congratulations on completing the jam!

Great job on the feel of both the gameplay and atmosphere!

I think other than some quality of life feedback, like possibly using the mouse right click to hide the book as an alternative to the keyboard, and that the monster lingers a tad bit too long to be noticed, everything came together nicely!

Congratulations on completing the jam!

Amazing level of polish. Great job on having everything come together to achieve a cohesive experience and atmosphere.

Congratulating on completing the jam!

Absolutely enjoyed the humor weaved into this.

Congratulations on completing the jam!

Thank you so much!

Happy to hear you like the art and story. We wanted to get that balance of cozy unassuming setting with an underlying mystery. Definitely have more plans for the story! Just had to make sure we made a demo that was concise enough for the jam.

Nice interpretation of the theme!

I know the other comments have said it, but I do agree that it would help to have a hit tracker or indicator for damage to better show progress.

Other than that, great job, and congratulations on completing the jam!

All the eldritch horror wanted was a personal chef. 😄

A suggestion I have with be having more feedback/effects in preparing and cooking would push it further.

Great job, and congratulations on completing the jam!

Amazing idea for your concept!

I’m going to echo some feedback where the start can be a bit slow, so that might just be a bit more tweaking for early game balancing, but otherwise I really like the idea of the dynamic of evolution with the entity.

Great job, and congratulations on finishing the jam!

Great work on balancing the mechanics and difficulty.  You feel the dread looming as the game goes.

Congrats on finishing the jam!

Thank you! To keep things concise for this jam, we wanted to create a snippet that hints at the wider story. We definitely have plot points beyond this though, so we might be able to expand it once we have more time!

Thank you! We wanted to create a cozy horror/mystery vibe, so it’s nice to hear that the art was able to contribute to that.

Thank you! We were really going for the unassuming village setup since we really wanted to it contrast with the hinted cosmic horror elements. Glad to hear that the main points we kept for the jam were able to capture the mood we wanted.

Thanks again for your comment!

I really like the atmosphere that you were able to achieve with the setting. It really helps the immersion.

I saw Fokos001’s comment and can see where they’re coming from regarding the corridor. It can go for just long enough to be noticed, but it’s not a dealbreaker.

Great job, and congratulations on completing the jam!

I like the concept you went with!

Might want to check the audio levels since the sfx can get s bit loud where if I lower my volume to adjust, I lose the music.  I also agree with Gluedog that you might want to check balancing a bit.

But fun game overall, so congrats on finishing for the jam!

I enjoyed the concept of this one and how the theme was integrated into the mechanics as well.

I ran into the same aiming/moving bug as Kigen Games, but when I reset I couldn’t recreate it. If I’m able to, I’ll definitely let you know though.

Great job, and congratulations on completing the jam!
