This was really well done. I ran into a few bugs and also have a few suggestions.
The run speed is a bit too slow for the size of the map. It's a drag to run from one side of the carnival to the other. Related, but turning while running slows you down to a walk, which is also a major pain and limits how well you can dodge enemies.
Now the bugs. The handgun ammo in the dumpster behind the Tunnel of Love seems unretrievable. Investigating the area only triggers the comment about the trash.
I also ran into an issue a few times while trying to pick up items and being told there wasn't space in the inventory, despite there being enough space. Trying again after doublechecking there was space worked. This specifically happened with the blue key and the arm.
Final bug also related to the arm. After running into the previous issue, i picked it up and went to check my inventory space. Instead of opening the inventory screen, the game transitioned back into play mode but was frozen. Pressing inventory again would fade out and then back into the game. Ended up needing to force quit the game. It's possible i attempted to open the inventory too quickly after picking up the item, and that may have been what triggered the bug.
Hopefully these are simple fixes, and I look forward to the full release!

Hi there. I'm a 2d artist who's new to game dev. I have some very basic experience in several engines (Unreal, Godot, Clickteam Fusion, and currently just starting in Unity)
I've been working on 2d pixel art for the past year and would be happy to share some examples. This would be my first game jam and I've never finished a game project myself, but I know enough to know what kind of sprite work would be needed and how that would interact with the game engine.
I'm a professional video editor, so I have experience in sound design as well - typically taking free sounds and layering and remixing them as needed.
I personally enjoy games with a strong theme or narrative that interacts directly with the gameplay. I also tend to lean towards scary things, but they don't NEED to be horror.
I unfortunately only speak English, so I understand if you'd rather partner with someone else.
The gameplay is simple but satisfying. There seems to be a bug with the carrots. When you plant them, your number of harvested carrots changes to match the number of seeds. This leads to you accumulating wealth very quickly, especially if you start planting only carrots.
I also never saw anything spooky in the shadows. Not sure if I just somehow never triggered it, or if there isn't actually anything there.
