Really creative and the gameplay is fun, enjoyable and makes me want to play more, I love games that source and hook the player by making them use their brains, and this does it very nicely, more card designs, and complex levels would absolutely make this a full fledged strategy card game, Also as mentioned before by some comments, a hovering text info would go really well considering the games nature and genre
loved it, really simple concept, with more polish and workarounds, it would be a nice and clean rougelite
like for such a simple game, i can really have quite the variety of gameplayy like I was switching between team types and stuff either large weak swarm with spawners and chasersor small tanky swarm with tankers and rangers
When I really really like something, I usually say that its very cheese or Absolute Cheese, But just for this game ill have to say it was ABSOLUTE CARAMAEL, (LOVED THE HUMOR AND THE POPCORN SOUNDEFFECT!)
also its really not that significant, but you can still accidently activate the dragon breaths in the ending sequence and and can hear it play
Hey Cyriacus! thanks for playing my gamee, yes , I did indeed think of adding more characters but im not really good at pixel art and stuff, and the character animation and stuff were really time taking for me, so i kinda sulked on it,
About one hit killing you outright, I am planning to add health system for each lil goober to make it so that there's more concession and it would also create shift of focus to the character that has low health which can make you neglect another and then it all just snowballs and
CHAOS MWHAHAHA; ,erhm,yeah;
sidenote: there are four characters (at 180 seconds), the last one I added is kind of an easter egg, and it gets very difficult after that(even I've only got there 7-8 times during final playtestings)
I wasnt able to jump over to the upper platform after the cops shootout level, so I didnt finish it, but from what I can tell its a really good submission, really stands out, its gameplay is a bit clanky as aiming with just WASD is hard with the movement speed being fast, but the storyline, narration, music and the atmosphere makes it a quite the deeply felt experience
MUSICC MANNNNN \0o0/
Yeah it does ramp up slowly, the balancing and trying to make it fun took me the most time , most of my spawning and gameManager code just didn't end up working so i decided to keep it simple , Ill have to learn what went wrong and maybe make it more dynamicc! thankss for playing, I will checkout your gamee in a bit too as yyou mentioned its almost the same idea
yeah playtesting it at the three player level is really what took a lot of my time, as I wanted to make sure it wasn't too difficult and was a bit balanced, really tried many wave models for the fireballs but just settled for a simple "more firerate" haha, Thanks for playing the game and writing about your experience!
I couldn't really complete level 7 cause I didn't understand how the gates worked, but i did manage to solve level 6 without using gates lol, but this is the kinda game that you don't get bored with cause it fun and challenging and a lot of options and potential for tricky game and level design, a High rated one for me definitely, really needed at least small pop up texts explaining the belts and stuff because how do the gates even work(pls do tell)
Played your game, very fun! be sure to check mine out too if you have the time!

Wow the sound that plays on the Bait and switch by the little hooligans really caught me off guard, Love the creppy vibe, your writing is really good as well, i could see you expand on this in the future with a good complete storyline, more mechanics and just a little bit more on the graphic aspect, buut really liked the vibes of it, definitely try and keep it!
I liked this game a lot, especially loved the goofy animations and the screams of torment of the little guys, also the art style is very cuteee, With a bit more polish in gameplay and design, like the gameplay could be a bit more dynamic and fast, more upgrades, I could see this as a standalone game as its pretty creative and diffe"rent", haha get it?.
its a nice complete game, I liked the goofy dialogue, I didn't expect the boss fight that was a nice touch to it, the gameplay does feel a bit too slow at the start, also would suggest to add borders on the top and bottom(invisible or not your take) as you can pretty much just go out of the screen,, Alsoooo Damn I really liked the earth rotation and how it looked along with the old gen space shooter vibe, !
I had actually played this game before the rating period as well, because it was quite an early submit, I was terrible at it but the controls felt nice, at least the movement , jump feels a bit wonky and too punishing but I enjoyed the challenge! overall a good first game, I'm a first timer too , I'm very impressed! good luck on your game dev journey, also saw you are participating in gmtk, so see you in gmtk2026!
