I couldn't get this game to run at more than 5 fps, so my judgement will be slightly flawed.

1. Fun. I technically wasn't able to play the game...

2. Graphics: Adding a 3rd dimension made your game stand out. This was your forte!

3. Music & Sound: A little cheesy, but it's all consistent.

4. The concept from what I could tell on the Itch page was interesting but not too original.

Overall amazing for 2 weeks of work. Keep it up!

My critique:

FYI I don't usually play these kinds of games, so I might not be the best judge.

1. I liked the story, but I feel like there could have been better mechanics around it rather than just pressing buttons. I also ran into a couple code errors while fighting wily, so that was dumb.

2. I didn't particularly like the art style, but it was consistent throughout the game and I got used to it. Definitely a forte.

3. I liked the sound, I just have one suggestion: There needs to be little blips bleeps ect. when letters appear, if that makes sense.

4. The concept was stolen from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, but I still enjoyed it, especially the "twist ending" of the children in the candy.

Overall, amazing game with a phenomenal amount of content for 2 weeks. Keep it up!

My critique (sry if I'm a little too direct)

1. Fun: You added a little bit of juice (more than most in this jam) but it felt a little weak. When I swing the sword and hit a candy corn, I want to FEEL it. I have to credit you to the little juice you added, but the game didn't feel smooth to play. The sword swing felt a little slow and the candy corn seemed a little static.

2. The art style is amazing! I was drawn to this game from the start. Of all the games I've judged so far, this is the best looking. This is obviously your forte so keep it up!

3. You actually added sound, but it was just average.

4. The concept is great, you just needed to push it a little farther. I want enemies that actually feel challenging and more types of enemies. I didn't feel challenged...

Overall, this is a great game for 2 weeks. and phenomenal for a first game! Keep it up!

also, gotta add, your thumbnail is the best in the jam so far!

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Fy0aCDmgnxg is a good resource for juice.

my high score is 9

Some quick feedback from a fellow game jammer:

Glow (what you did well)

1. You actually finished your first project!!!

2. The art is looking great!

3. The game loop is tight.

Grow (what you could do better)

1. There is no juice or sound effects. I want it to feel good that I hit the tooth with the cannon, but it doesn't really. If you don't know what juice is, I'd recommend this GDC talk:

2. Music is crucial in an arcade style game like this, so next time, you could add that as well.

Overall, this is amazing for 2 weeks and phenomenal for a first project. Keep it up!

You finished your first project!!! WOOHOO!!!!!

Thanks! I usually think my art looks bad, so this is super validating that my art looks good!

Some quick feedback from a fellow game jammer:

Glow: (What you did well)

1. The game is readable and playable

2. The art fits the theme of the game.

3. The game is engaging (at least on a phone)

Grow: (what you could do better)

1. please change the color sceme of the itch page. I feel like I'm blind writing this...

2. There is no juice, so, paired with a simple game, it isn't fun to play. Please fix this and add some juice.

Overall, this is great for 2 weeks of work. Keep it up!

Also the UI was amazing.

Some feedback from a fellow game jammer:

Disclaimer: I don't know what this game should be like because I don't usually play shooters.

I also only played for 10 mins, so yeah...

Glow: (What the game does well)

1. The art and music are SPOT ON! They work well fit the style of game.

2. The upgrade systems were interesting and intuitive to use.

3. The enemy types are engaging.

Grow: (What you could improve)

1. It wasn't fun shooting enemies. I found it hard to hit enemies and even harder to dodge them. You could fix this by making the hitboxes bigger and also giving each enemy less health.

2. I need to know what recipes exist. There are 91 possible combinations, and not all of them work. I NEED to not have to guess the 10 possible ones that exist (Just a guess, I don't know how many you made)

3. Instead of adding a running mechanic, add a dash. This makes combat more engaging and the run mechanic makes you feel out of control anyways.

4. The dashing enemy seems unfair. The dashing enemy should track your location when the exclamation point appears and then dash there. I can't get out of the way fast enough.

All of this could be my skill issue, so yeah... :P

Great work for 2 weeks. Keep it up!

Yea. No problem!

Yea, you should probably have done that :

Some quick feedback from a fellow game jammer:

Glow (What you did well)

1. The UI is really intuitive. I figured everything out in the first 10 seconds.

2. The art is readable. I understand what is going on.

3. The secondary research mechanic was a good idea!

4. I was able to play without a tutorial

Grow (What you could do better)

1. The Art is a little boxy. The default Godot UI makes it feel prototypey.

2. The lack of sound effects and general juice makes the game look static. I don't just want a number to go up. I want a number to go up and make a satisfying popping noise every time it does (to name one example)

3. I found myself just using only the highest yielding candy I had. This made the game a little static.

4. Researching to get new candies and better factories is great, but the upgrades are random. So I got a 25% boost and then a 1% boost. That didn't feel good.

A potential solution to problems 3 and 4 would be to connect research and candy production. Make certain candies yield research and make new candies always better than the last candies. That way multiple candies can work together to make money AND better candies.

Overall, great for 2 weeks! Keep up the good work! :D

Some quick feedback from a fellow game jammer:

Glow (What you did well)

1. Interesting concept.

2. Amazing use of art, music, and crunchy SFX. It definitely fulfils the jam's theme (Candy)

3. I couldn't code this. :P (This means you probably know what you are doing)

Grow (What you could do better)

1. I didn't understand what my goal was until I read the descript. Before then, I thought the goal was to clear the screen.

2. The default Godot UI makes it look a bit prototypey.

3. The music cuts out at some point and doesn't loop.

Thank you for crafting this game. Keep it up!

That is a great idea! Keep it up!

I love this game and could play it for a long time. I understand the mechanics extremely easily. Great juicy gameplay! My only critique is that it is made up of circles. Not much to visually appeal. The one thing you could do to improve this game is give these characters some expression by adding sprites. Thanks for making this game. I greatly enjoyed it!

This game is doing great for an alpha stage game. Would recommend! Keep it up!

never mind. I made it thru the game. Interesting story! Thank you!

this could be an awesome game! Please keep it up!

problems

1. I couldn’t get out of the living room even after I picked up all the tapes…

2. I liked your addition of Sex but there seemed to be too few. This made it weird when the tv made a sound but you can’t hear the people talking or your footsteps…

overall, great prototype with great art that I can’t wait to play the finished product! Thanks!

An awesome game with good puzzles. Couldn’t get past lvl 9 :)

nice game! Interesting themes….

thx!

I like it. It's nice and polished.

Nice rage game! (If you're me)

At first I had no clue what was going on, but now I understand. Cool Game!

Nice Game. I love the Idea
