Are you throwing all buddies one right after the other? I did that at first and it was imposible that way. Try waiting until the first one you throw has finished growing to throw the second one, that way it works.
It's very simple yet, interesting enough to keep you engaged. The only downside I would say, it is that perhaps it is a bit too long for it's simplicity. The game is based on repetition, but I think with a couple of "rounds" less would have worked a bit better.
