Wow, this is definitely in the top 2 games I have played in this jam! The art and lighting really stood out in this game, as well as the overall polish. The game felt very complete and didn't feel like a 3 day game jam at all. The setting/theme was executed very well, probably due to the music, sound effects, and font. I especially love the visual effects when dragging the cursor and the Chinese characters that pop up when switching masks with the sound effect, it makes it feel very polished. I also like how you guys do dialogue in the game and zoom in on the player, feels very polished and unique. The mask abilities are very simple which was a great decision because it probably allowed you to focus on other aspects of the game more. The game was a little difficult at some points but it is very forgiving because of the frequent checkpoints and the ability to skip to the next checkpoint which is super helpful. I managed to beat the whole game and only had to skip 1 checkpoint. I really enjoyed playing this game, my favorite parts were the art, sound effects, and lighting, incredible work!

I really enjoyed playing your game! Switching masks while jumping was a little challenging at the beginning, but once I got used to it, it was very fun to play and I managed to collect all the ship parts and beat the game. I really love the music in this game, and I appreciate some of the little details like how the character faceplants when falling from high places as well as being able to skip dialogue by just pressing shift. I didn't run into any bugs during the game and the movement and double jump feels pretty good too. My main suggestion would to just make it clearer how the collision with each mask works, as well as how you need to wear the blue mask to avoid the blue spikes. I know there was dialogue explaining it but it was still a bit confusing to me and I just learned by trial and error. Overall the gameplay and the music was the highlight for me and I actually had a lot of fun playing your game!
Very fun game! The gameplay is fun and simple to understand. I mainly used pumpkins and sunflowers and I got to wave 30 before stopping. I like the art, it reminds me of Undertale. I also like the sound effects, especially the coin one. The explosion particles for the pumpkin are cool too. Great game!
Very cool and unique game. The story and ending is great, I like the art style, it feels very homemade which makes it more personal I think. I really appreciate the text at the bottom of the screen when you are near an item that has a short explanation and the controls to interact, a lot of devs would overlook something like this for a game jam. The puzzles had a good level of difficulty, the hardest one for me was the one that had to do with the lights on the TV screen, I figured out that the numbers matched the colors on the screen but I was struggling with the order of the numbers for a bit. I also like how the time pauses when you are interacting with stuff because otherwise it would be too stressful and I wouldn't stop and read all the notes and story stuff. My main suggestion would be to allow diagonal movement and maybe have some music on top of the ambience noise in the main game. Amazing work for a solo dev and also a 14 year old, very impressive game!
Great game! The theme interpretation is very creative, and I love the UI and the little animations when loading a level and clicking the pause button. The music is very fitting for the game and the use of sound effects is great too. The movement feels good, I would just suggest making the jump a little higher. The art is solid too, especially the first room, I like the wall textures. The way the cube reveals stuff in the room is very cool and I'm curious how you did that effect in Unity if you don't mind me asking. Luckily, I didn't experience any issues with the windows build and the game ran well, I just had to turn down the mouse sensitivity. Overall the game is very polished and this has been one of the best games in the jam that I've played. Amazing work, especially for a solo dev!
I really enjoyed your game! Even though it's pretty simple, it's fun to play and has a good level of difficulty which keeps me engaged. I like the art style and the colors, and the gameplay is very fun, it reminds me of the Binding of Isaac. The weapon and sound effects make it very satisfying to play too. My main suggestions would be to prevent enemies from spawning within one tile of you and use a different music track that fits the game more. Overall though the gameplay was the highlight for me and this is very impressive for a solo dev, great job!
Very unique game compared to a lot of entries in this jam. I like ledge grabbing and the movement feels pretty good. I also like how there is a leaderboard and that my progress is saved even when I close the game. I appreciate how the goal of the game and the whole mask system is easy to figure out despite their not being a tutorial or anything. Also the inclusion of the yellow paint on some of the ledges really helped me out when I was stuck on the second level. The game was too difficult for me though, I only got to the third checkpoint and was stuck on that for around 5-10 minutes. I would also suggest improving the environment art. Otherwise, it was pretty fun and your team did a great job!
Fun game, the song is catchy and the art is very nice. I also like all the sound effects and the movement of the mask cards when moving the mouse over them and dragging them to your character. At first I thought the game was too hard and I didn't really understand what all the icons did at the bottom. But once I fully restarted and read the itch description for them it made sense and was fun to play. Besides for explaining what the masks do, it would be nice if there was a way to unselect a mask once you click it. Also a little red or white flash on the enemies being hit would be a nice addition so you know who is being damaged. Overall very impressive given the time constraint and a team of 2, great job!
I was shocked by the amount of polish when I loaded up the title screen and saw the cool art and all the characters running around talking and stuff and being able to switch between dark and light mode. The music is really good and fits the gameplay and the art well. The theme interpretation is super original, and the art style plus the level background art is super cool. You also do a fantastic job with teaching the player the controls and how to play with Semi. And the fact that you did all of this yourself AND this is your first completed game is crazy, I hope this game wins. You should be seriously proud of yourself, this is amazing work!
Cool game! I like the 2.5D characters and the pixel art style and the music. I would suggest making the bosses a bit more predictable, which could be the reason why they were difficult for some people. Maybe change their faces for their different attacks? Overall pretty impressive for the time limit!
The drawing mechanic is fun and unique, I like the music and how it changes when you engage with enemies, and it's also nice how time slows done when you do the drawing mechanic. My only criticism is that the drawing system took me a bit to figure out but once I figured it out it was great. You guys did a great job in such a short time!
I really enjoyed your teams game, it really excels in the gameplay department and is easily the most fun game from the jam. The music was also very good and fit the maps well, I also like how the music changes in the main menu. I also really liked the spin item because it was unique and really caught me off guard the first time I saw it. Drifting is also implemented well and is satisfying once you get it down. The maps were nicely themed, I especially like the first map because of the track layout, music, and the falling leaves. Overall your game was amazing and your team did a great job. My only suggestions are to make the camera/collisions smoother because sometimes the camera would jitter, especially in the third map. I also suggest making the finish line more obvious in the first and third map.
Played through the whole game and even though I don't play these types of games I really enjoyed it. The environment, lighting, and skyboxes looked spectacular. The voice acting was amazing and made the game more engaging than just reading. The music was phenomenal, it fit the game and environments well and I also liked how the music transitioned between areas. The camera was super smooth and made the game feel great. And of course the story was unique and interesting and even though I probably got some scrolls out of order, it didn't hinder the story or ruin anything. Some other features like the UI for the book and scrolls, and the little jiggle when you interact with items were great too. Overall great game guys, the only thing I would suggest is making the gameplay a bit more interactive. Maybe a mechanic where you can cast spells to complete some of the objectives like making the potion, removing the spell around the statue or freeing the blue soul thing.
Just finished the game and the gameplay was super fun, I liked how it encouraged you to combo the sword throw and melee because by themselves they were weak, but together they did a lot more damage. The difficulty was perfect and the overall balancing was also very spot on. Also their was a lot of polish and everything felt complete. You guys did a great job!
