I've had this issue before on vmware workstation player and the literal ONLY solution that worked was switching to workstation pro and turning "Optimize mouse for games" to always and unchecking "Automatically grab and ungrab the mouse"

versions 2006-2007 are incredibly laggy, you have to have a beefy computer to get a stable framerate

Does the folder where you installed novetus have a space in it? if so try removing the space
