That's very surprising since they said it only supports Windows 11 officially when Unity can build for basically every platform imaginable. If you manage to find a download link or torrent please send me an email.

I'm working in a private github repo right now so the only updates are gonna be on my Itch.io page when I feel like there's enough progress to an update post. I also saw my game linked on the School Days subreddit (which is where JAST USA seems to have first found out about it) so I might post updates there as well.

As for the progress itself, I actually started translating a few months ago and picked it up again recently. Episode 1 is now fully translated (120 files total), with Episodes 2, 3, and 4 still ahead (about 1911 files left to go).

I'm not too interested for the other games since they are spin-offs and I doubt they run on FORIS so I'd have to make a new engine for that.

Also, Island Days is for Nintendo 3DS and I don't even wanna start to think about how I'd re-engineer that.

I also hope Cross Days would get a remaster someday, since that'd be the perfect chance for an official English release. You can tell the original was rushed, it barely works & there are tons of leftover files, even unfinished pre coloring stage line art still sitting in the game data. XD

Also, it's kinda funny to me how we're discussing School Days in the comments of this completely unrelated tool I made.

Thank you so much for the kind words, I really appreciate it.

That said, please don’t take it out on JAST. It was completely within their right to ask me to take the project down, since it was infringing on their copyright and would've affected their upcoming School Days Remastered release (19/12/2025).

It's definitely sad that it had to end this way, especially after all the work that went into fixing and porting it to the web. I honestly hoped I might be able to help with the remaster somehow. I just really want to see it turn out great. But I'll admit, I'm a bit worried, especially hearing that it's apparently going to be a Windows 11 exclusive release doesn't exactly inspire confidence for its overall quality.

Like, I know Microsoft is deprecating support for everything before Win11, but is it really so hard to build your game for win7 to win11 for users that don't want to update their OS?

There are 20 year old games which run from XP to Win11 fine, so how can a 2025 release not do the same?

And as for Mac or Linux support... well, let's just say Japanese devs don't exactly have the best track record there. 💀

The plan to port Shiny Days to web has been scrapped since I don't want to interfere with the sales of any existing releases of these games.

I am still working on translating Cross Days, so the custom engine hasn't gone to waste. From what I've seen the Japanese version isn't available for purchase, is unstable, crashes frequently, and has no official English release, so it appears to be abandonware.

Of course, I will be consulting with JAST USA about this before releasing anything publicly. So you might even see an official translation for the game one day depending on how that goes!
