Set up a new menu to add map choice and fix inviting, this is still very rough as is the shanty fort map. Not all compatibility optimizations have been done but uploaded the file ending in 914.apk anyways for testing. There will probably be a bug fixed optimized version tomorrow with quick match restored as well. Right now you can only start private invite lobbies. As such, I've also left the last beta version up so you can still get into death match. Make sure you're keeping track of which version you're using when testing, otherwise you may be reporting non-existent errors due to version conflicts.

8/31

fixed customized skin not loading in deathmatch

fixed head occlusion, you won't see through the inside of your head on certain weapons

fixed the scoreboard, start button

added player names above character in coop and deathmatch

added ragdoll corpses for players

fixed movement for joystick/thumbstick/dual analogue controllers, now moves smoothly in the direction you press your joystick instead of the limited 4 directions control used before.

more to come...

still broken:

minigun is borked in multiplayer.

New NVB up. See here: death match

The new next version beta is currently being uploaded, and includes the beginnings of a death math mode. You'll see an animated soldier running during the main menu. This is the death match selection, and sorry I'll get around to labeling it before the official next version ;)

Most important, this new NVB has _dRaMaTiCalLy_ improved net code. I would recommend this NVB even you plan on playing coop. Just download the version labeled beta test.

A major change to the enemy AI and spawning engine has fixed a very serious performance issue that was choking some phone's frames per second.

Weapons have been fixed and should work correctly with sounds and animations across the board.

Heavy weapons have been added back in, they are hiding very well on the map.

Since we're putting off the next update until the map manager has been completed, I figured I would upload the current version that has working multiplayer. DefConZ-NetworkingBetav4.apk is the current beta that has working co-op mode. As soon as the upload finishes I will unlock the multiplayer through Google Play Games Services for all to try instead of just the current beta testers. Have Fun, and see you soon!

Update on the update progess: the bug fixes I have implemented so far have all been successful, so I believe that multiplayer is functioning and ready for deployment. I was about to pull the trigger on that update on Saturday, but changed my mind when I was reminded that the a new map is close to ready and the new map selection UI is close to completed. I will be waiting for those changes as well since my estimation is that it should only push the update off by a week or less. Looking forward to playing with you!

I'm sorry that this update didn't happen sooner, truly I am. However, I welcomed a new member of the family into the world, a beautiful baby girl, so a lull in activity was to be expected.

With that said, I am proud to announce that I am in the process of tracking down one of the last errors in the current multiplayer update, and I hope to release that update this weekend.

This update covers multiplayer, random skins for the zombies, zombie dismemberment, two new weapons (the minigun and RPG); both of which are temporarily unlocked with unlimited ammo, character customization fixes, and a whole plethora of bug fixes ranging from audio compatibility on a number of devices to memory optimization to increase the number of functioning devices.

Bug: in multiplayer, sometimes when a player dies and respawns it seems to bring that player to a new empty game. Not sure how to reproduce the error eveytime, but may have found the offending code anyways. Currently working on it.

The android version of DefCon Z using Google Play Game Services multiplayer made some serious strides today. Implementation is about 75% complete, but be prepared for several changes to the multiplayer system as we get it going.

In order to test multiplayer currently you need the -v4Beta version available on the main page, and your google play email needs to be listed as a tester. Feel free to use this thread to request beta access to multiplayer.

Please post any bugs you find and, if necessary, steps on how to recreate the error.
