I feel dirty now

I'm having a little trouble making heads or tails of the code posted on the back, where do I use it?

I just beat the game and I'll admit, I'm a little confused by the ending. I get that it's an apocalypse but I had trouble understanding what was going on and why I even fighting all those people or why other NPCs seemed to act like I had a history with them. Overall it was fun but I really wish I knew what happened.

I've only played the demo so far and while I do love it, I found myself getting stuck because progressing required abilities I was unaware I had. While you better believe Imma buy this with some of my Christmas cash, a tutorial would really help.
