I'm going to make my ESC inspired game in Pico 8 - the games automatically look like a cute game boy game and it's pretty simple to actually make something that works.

I've sketched out a sort of Pokemon inspired game that I'm calling 'Six On Stage' where each 3 minute performance becomes a sort of turn based poke-battle. I've worked out a special rule for hidden backing singers and what all the different character classes would be. Now I think I need to actually open Gamemaker and try it.
