There are good ideas here, but in all honesty it feels like a game with a lot of surface area but only a few feet deep. Descriptions feel clunky (why are there three different kinds of text that basically say the same thing?) The end of day events are far too common and quickly get repetitive. The text itself I have to assume is AI generated, but it doesn't even feel curated, it just feels like the author said "write this" read it for basic content and grammar errors, and then left it. It has multiple AI cliches that really mess with the atmosphere (it's not x - it's y, overuse of em dashes, etc.) and while the idea of kingdom corruption is interesting, the world building doesn't permeate the game enough to make me care.

While I'm not going to sit here and make a case for or against AI, I have to emphasize that AI as a tool IS very powerful, and therefore anything made with it must and will be held to a higher standard of quality compared to something made 100% by humans. If this was fully human made, I would consider giving it 2 stars given certain concepts, but because AI is involved, I would expect the author to have put in the energy that they saved having the AI handle certain tasks into focusing on quality elsewhere. That was clearly not done and is rather disappointing, not to mention that comments the dev has made come off as callous and moreover ignorant to the nuance surrounding AI, which makes me hesitant to give the benefit of the doubt when they call the people criticizing their use of AI "Neanderthals". I believe that if they had used it more thoughtfully as a tool, these criticisms might have held less weight. As it stands, I would avoid this game until the developer refines it, if they choose to do so.

What an update! Beautiful work.

One of the authors informed me about their submission in the spring and I've been waiting to play it! The dialogue is very witty and the characters are well written and easy to relate to. I'm always so impressed by the talent showcased in game jams, and this one is no exception. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed!
