Hi Savvy! You're right, each day you do roll d6 for journey. But some journeys do present you with monster encounters, especially journey rolls in 1 and 6- where a monster follows you or a beast mimics you.

The example playthrough shows exactly that, which is why it bounces back and forth between journey and encounters. Either way you can choose when and where you encounter a monster/beast. You could even have monster encounters in journey rolls 2 and 5 where a child seeks your help or a storm speaks in whispers. The child here might be asking for help to pacify a monster or there could be a monster manipulating the storm/environmental phenomena. You can  even skip the journey rolls and go straight to monster encounters if you want to play it that way!

There's no hard or fast rule for journaling, i hope the above explains, if anything please feel free to get in touch with me!

Thank you!

Thank you! Absolutely, rationing or developing saltborne/lizard skills would help ration water supply and extend your session.

E.g. Say your lizard has evolved or developed an ability to locate water sources, you could roll an even on d6 for success or odd on d6 for failure.

And if you do locate a water source, what happens then? Do you fight with other factions/tribes or roll to see if the water is toxic or safe for consumption. The possibilities are limitless.

Cheers!
