Ok so. I just read this book in a single day, I'm gonna write a review while it's still fresh in my mind. Overall, this was an enjoyable read! It was kind of hard getting into, as the early first-person narration had a kind of, idk how to put it, "exaggerated" vibe? Kinda like reading the characters' vent diaries rather than following their regular train of thought. It was (in my humble opinion) too on-the-nose and repetitive about how miserable each character felt.
Now, onto the positive aspects! I loved loved loved how natural and full of life the dialogues felt, especially in the chatrooms. Each character's personality was visible through their way of typing, and the interactions between friends really had that silly, playful vibe. Mark and Nog were lovely, I'm glad they got a whole lot of screentime. Also just. David being David. That's a whole positive aspect. Love me a goofy himbo puppy. I need to kiss him on the top of his head and ruffle his hair.
[Kinda spoiler-y starting from here]
I was genuinely happy witnessing David and Alex get better and take decisions for themselves and their happiness throughout the book! You can really feel the shift happening, the trying, the failing, the whole healing-is-not-linear thing. The fact that they were both actively trying to correct their negative thinking,,, So proud of them. <3 Took me a while to get attached but once I was, I was genuinely happy to see them blossom. :)
Also. Sexting hot.
