As written you’re not missing anything. However in practice, if the players are in relative safety I make one encounter roll to cover the whole duration and then make the time roll (p 36). It’s a bit abstracted out instead of hour by hour, mostly to prevent parties from taking these longer rests in an adventure site.
Have fun! Message me again here or on the blog if you run into anything else. :)
Grafauko is a fantastic monster, the combination of hedge knight, researchers, and deathvines is just enough concoction to create many interesting outcomes. The size of the dungeon is PERFECT. Maybe add a small encounter table (d6) just to make the play-pieces more mobile? The stating of monsters and environment is brilliant. Natural, fairy-tale language is so interpretable and system-transferable. Well done!
Players were given vague outlines of which each other player was about, but the contents of their powers were kept secret. As for rolling, I changed my preferred methods in later iterations (see the Blades in the Dark open strategy game):
If an action is unopposed or easy, it happens. If success is uncertain, the referee rolls 2d6. If likely, only one die needs to be 4 or higher. If unlikely, both need to be 4 or higher. Rolling doubles means something chaotic occurs.
