Agreed.
Some backstory: I don't really play adult games, much less furry visual novels. But I was directed at Adastra because the story and world building was exceptional. I can't think of another story I've been through that's been written as effectively and impactfully, perhaps even throughout the entire back catalog of everything I've played. For me it's in the great archives next to the likes of Deltarune- I enjoyed it that much.
The comparison there is apt, though. We've been waiting eight years and counting for the ending of Deltarune. It's been maddening at times. But when the storywriter gets the time they need, we're rewarded with a story that's richer and more surprising than any of the community theories or expectations we set. By design, these stories are opaque puzzle boxes, and us as the audience are fully along for the ride.
I don't think I'd play a continuation of Adastra that came from the community, myself. Not a disparagement on the community or their ability to tell a captivating story. But I want more of this author's story. As desperate as we are to see the next installment, let's not forget what happens when we get impatient over a story. Half Life's Epistle 3, right?
With Adastra, I trust these guys to deliver on a follow up. If it isn't good enough to them, and they want to rework it, I believe them. That taste is what brought us this story in the first place. A delayed game is eventually great, but a rushed one is forever bad. They want to write the best version of this story, and I'd vote to let them. I treasure this world too much to let it be any less than what the authors want it to be.
