Yesss I am so hyped to listen to this!! I'm going through submissions to put them on the website today.

Hi hi! I've been using Scritch for a little while now for my own projects here on Itch, but I wanted to let you know that I'm using it for a music jam I'm running! I've integrated it into my website, so when the jam closes at the end of the month I'm going to host all the submissions there with Scritch :)

Thank you so much for making this tool! It's super easy to use and I am genuinely very grateful it exists!

Hi Jammers!

The website for the People's Radio is complete! 🎉 If you would like your music to be included in the monthly compilation blog post, please...

  • Include an applicable social link in your submission (Bandcamp, Ko-Fi, personal website) if you have one
  • Provide me with .OPUS copies of your tracks (these can be zipped up with your Jam submissions. I recommend using Audacity to convert them)

I am so excited!! I had no idea the jam was going to take off this way. Hopefully we can all bring some amazing music into the world :D

Hi Jammers! I just wanted to let you know that I have made an update to the Jam submission process. There are now two questions-- one is to opt in to sharing your work on the People's Radio website, and the other is to direct people to a Ko-Fi, Bandcamp, Patreon, etc.!

Hmm. I would say YES-- as long as the original sample remains the same.

Each track can have its own instruments! :)

Awesome game!! Really love the detail of the trees around the border. Yoinking that idea for my next game. :)

Hi folks! Welcome to the People's Radio! I am your host, DOOMVEGA, and I am super excited to make some music with you all. This forum post will serve as your one-stop-shop for all things you may need during the Jam, such as resources, clarification, and important updates!

If you have any questions, I will answer to the best of my ability. Leave questions here or make your own threads, either is okay!

TOOLS

  • Scritch Editor - this is a wonderful way to upload your music to Itch or anywhere else that hosts HTML files (which means it's great for indie web sites as well)!
  • Xenharmonic Wiki - if you've never worked with microtonal music before, this is a wonderful resource to start with.

EXPORT FORMAT

I am not overly concerned with the quality of your export. As long as it's .WAV/.MP3/.FLAC/.OGG, and I have a means of listening to it (see above; Scritch is a great tool for this) you're in the clear.

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

  • Do drums count as one instrument or many? They count as one instrument. They are not the same as risers and impacts.
  • Can I sell my music during the Jam? Nope! You may sell or repurpose your music once the Jam has officially closed on August 1st.
  • What counts as one instrument? Alternatively, explain more about the five instruments rule. You are restricted to five instruments only: this could be any five instruments you want. (My initial thought with this restriction was bass, drums, lead/melody, chords, and atmos/SFX.) A soundfont, for example, is not one instrument, but a guitar preset within that soundfont is one instrument. You may use FX chains to change the sound in interesting ways, but the synth/sample cannot be destructively altered or swapped out with automation. Perhaps a better way to think of the five instrument restriction is five samples.

COMMUNITY

If you're looking to connect with folks who are participating in the Jam, there are the forums right here on Itch, but you may also optionally join the Discord server. Just select "the People's Radio" when joining and you should be all set to receive pings and important information about the Jam.

Just after the Jam! That's a good point of clarification and I will be adding that to the rules to prevent folks from forcing us to buy their tracks during the listening period. Thank you for asking :)

sorgy. why am i apologizing I wrote the Damp Rules

Absolutely!! That sounds like fun!!!

Thank you! :)

I FEEL LIKE I AM TRAVELLING THROUGH EVERY PARALLEL UNIVERSE ALL AT ONCE

SCARY THANK YOU

This is gorgeous!

I've been having dreams and nightmares about my ex and this is really comforting. Thank you for making this. Art, music, and voice acting are all gorgeous.

No no it was so so good!!! Love it!!

oh okay, that was super scary! thank you it was cool

Super cute!! Loved it :)

Howdy! I'd love to see more options for adding color to the little guys, like being able to color the neck/chest fluff and wings. I'd also love to see more markings and a zoom feature for the overworld/village section.

Also, will we be able to encounter other little guys from other creators, like the Mii parade on the Wii? That might be fun! :)

bnuuy

I really enjoyed this! :)
