Thanks for playing! Not sure what the control bug is, other people got that. I'll take a look!

Hey,

The graphics are really nice, and the story seems interesting. As you said, there is no puzzles or challenges, and my tip would be, spend less time on the pixel art graphics, and just use some circles and squares, get all the mechanics, challenges and gameplay working, and at the end add the graphics. I'd much rather play a game with no graphics but great mechanics than play a game with beautiful graphics and no actual gameplay. It would really benefit from audio, because the nice graphics set a mood for the game, and I think audio would take it a step further. My last point would be, I don't see how it really fits with the underground theme, maybe I'm missing something.

Anyways, well made, nice controls and good player speed, lovely graphics. Good luck in the game jam :)

Hey,

Amazing game, and could me something that really works if you expanded on the idea. The music fits the game really nicely, and the graphics are nice. Good interpretation on the theme. It'd be nice if the cart moved a bit faster, and maybe if the gravity was a little higher, because right now everything feels a bit slow and floaty for a wooden/metal cart in a mine.

Good luck in the jam!

Hey,

This is an amazing creation, especially considering it's your first game. Way better than my first game... Really good take on the theme of the jam, as others mentioned, the rocks are a bit loud, but it's not too bad. Quite an addictive game, enjoyable to play, animation on the player is nice, well done!

Haha,

Loved the really unique interpretation of the theme. In my opinion, the most creative of all the entries I've played so far. It is quite hard to understand the rules for the first time, and I did have to re-read them a couple times to actually get how to play - may have just been me. Good game!

Best of luck.

Hey,

Nice game! I loved the art in it, only thing I would say is the speed that the player runs at is a bit slow. This might just be my personal preference but maybe something you could change if you were to update it.

Hey unfueled,

Loved this game! Me and my sister spent quite a while playing this, and it was pretty fun! One thing I would say, you seem to be able to go off the brown area, and disappear off the screen. Not sure if that was intended, but it happened :) Well put together for a jam, and the audio fit the game well. Overall, good submission, but it might've benefited from a twist like AI or an enemy or something, because it became repetitive after a while.  Best of luck!

The art looks like it took a long time to draw, still amazed it was made in under 70 hours :0. Pretty good game, might benefit from some audio though :) Best of luck in the jam.

Hey, I absolutely love this game, and I think the idea is great. The music fits the game well in my opinion. The controls are quick and nice, but it'd be cool if (because you made it in Unity and it's quite easy to do in Unity), you added animations for the player and enemy, and also added maybe a destroy particle effect when the enemy kills the player.

While I was playing, I thought it might've been cool if the slime monster actually spawned more dirt behind him, because that makes it really hard.

Well done, a great game made in under 70 hours! Best of luck in the palette jam!

Hiya,

This game has a lot of awesome stuff in it. I haven't managed to play it all yet because I'm not a streamer so later today on Joshua's stream I'll hopefully be joining in and be able to give you better feedback later. Seems really good and polished!

Hey Morfy,

I was really excited to play your game, and it did not disappoint! I loved the idea behind it, the graphics were really nice, and I absolutely loved the animations. The story was really well put together, and all in all a good experience.

A couple things I might suggest; The camera was a tad dizzying but not too much, and I got used to it after a while. Audio would also really enhance the gameplay, but maybe you didn't have time to add that, I don't know, even just a shooting noise would work well.

Best of luck in the jam, this is an amazing submission!

Love this submission! Great idea for a game. Very nice and polished for a jam, only things are, it'd be nice if in the first level, enemies moved a bit slower, and also when trying to move one space it's very hard to get it because the drill moves quickly. Also some music on the menu screen might be nice!

Well done :D

Hey,

Thanks so much for the reply! I'll take all your points in and try fix them up, I really appreciate the feedback dude. One thing is, there were colliers around the edge of the screen, but I'll take a look at the problem.

Thanks again!

I checked, and it doesn't violate the rules. Thanks!

We are not currently looking for any positions at the moment, but may open back up to new people after our current project. Thanks for the interest anyways.

Hey,

I liked the level layout and the basic idea of this game. Completing a level was pretty satisfying, but it would've been cool to have some sort of thing try to stop you. It totally fitted the 'Exploration' theme.

Well done dude :D

Hey,

I really loved everything about this game. The colours were really nice, the shooting was satisfying, but I think you could've made the very first red triangle enemy a bit easier because it moves very quickly. I also think it could've benefited from audio, because I sort of lost interest because it got so quiet.

All in all, I think this game does scream 'wow this was done in 3 days?!' so very well done.

Best of luck :D

Hey,

mega game!

I loved playing this, and thought it was really well designed. Great use of only 2 shapes, you kept it minimal, and the audio is nice.
Not sure how well it fits this game, but I can see it fitting if the game was a little more intense - Maybe add a screen shake and particle effect when the player dies/hits the enemy?

All in all, a nice game! I would've liked if the description had said that the space key was actually an attack, because it took me a  bit to realise.

Well done!

Hey, I watch BlackThornProd's videos too and I played the game before reading the about page, and I could tell you were inspired by him! I really like the theme and aesthetic of the game, and the mood it gives off is consistent, with your colour palette and audio. All in all, a very well made game. I'd like it if the bullets fired faster and did more damage and fired more often, and I think it would benefit from a screen shake (which I know Noa has a tutorial on his YouTube on) when the enemy hits the player. I spent a good 15 minutes playing this game, and would recommend it to others. Great work!

Thanks! :p I’ll most likely sort the major bugs but leave a few in. Also I’m glad you liked the art considering going that was about the only part of the game that worked! I’ll work on the game and hopefully have a finished product by next year. Thanks for your godly comment :D

Saiga Games is an indie game developer and publisher

This team will specialize in 2D, 2.5D and top-down games, made in the retro, pixel-art style.

Roles

  • Coder
  • Level designer
  • Artist
  • Sound/Music producer
  • Story/Script/Dialogue writer

Requirements

  • Coders:
    • Have experience in using Unity and coding in C#
  • Level designers:
    • Again, have experience in Unity
  • Artists:
    • Skilled at 2D graphics, mainly pixel art. You will not be asked to create 3D art unless comfortable with creating it.
  • Sound/Music producers:
    • Must be able to create music to fit the theme of whatever project we work on.
  • Story/Script/Dialogue writer:
    • Be able to come up with basic stories in a short space of time, then flesh it out and add engaging dialogue for the game

Suggestions

  • Coders should have some games/work to show. Art/music doesn't have to look good, we are just interested in mechanics and play-ability.
  • Level designers should also have some work to show, and should include levels that fit the game and enhance the gameplay.
  • Artists should most definitely have pixel art to present, and adding animations will improve your chance for working with us.
  • Sound producers should have a few samples of their work to listen to.
  • Story writers will be asked to write a couple lines, should anybody be interested in the position. We will give you a theme and would just like you to write a short piece.

Finally:

None of these positions will be paid! If the team happens to make any profit, it will be shared equally.

I will co-ordinate and manage the team, and will have the final decision on who joins it.

This will just be for enjoyment of making games, but each member should be expected to put in work at least 1 hour a week. I understand that December is a busy time, so will recruit members until the 31st, and will begin our first project officially in the new year.

I hope that some of you will consider joining, even if only temporarily! This will be a super chill place for the most part,

Take care,

diving_squid :)

thanks! I increased the gravity scale and jump force. Maybe it’s a bit too high?

Thanks for your reply! Yeah, I just found out that there was a collider on an invisible object which is causing the invisible barrier.  I'm going to keep working on it an making the enemy attack, and add dialogue to teach you the controls better.

The idea behind this game is great! I can kind of relate, I play ukulele! The player character sprite is awesome. Great concept!

I love the wall slide mechanic! Great game <3

Firstly, I would kill for the art style. Absolutely stunning, and I didn't know it was possible to pull such a great game off in such a short amount of time. Learning the controls is quick and easy. Favorite aspect is the little health bar at the top left, something about it just fits the theme so well. You guys have a good chance of winning. Best of luck!

This is amazing! I love this game. The animation of the player is so good! At first you don't know what to do, and after dying a few times from the cctv laser camera or whatever it is, realize what to do.  It follows the jam theme pretty well too. Big thumbs up from be :D

Hi, Flygon! The game mechanics are pretty cool! I love the fact that you put a twist on the jump that normal platformers have, and added a hover. The hovering ties in great with the CyberPunk theme. I also like that you went with pixel art, which gives it that extra retro effect. My favourite piece of art is the lights at the start.

Great job considering the small space of time we had to submit our games!
