I have done it. You need to get 10% in an element and get it's technique upgraded to 20 

Most of it revolves around the level of Qi you have and how many times you escaped and impacted other villages. When I ht 9 Qi, I survive the beast tide. 

So as someone who is at or near the end of content (a harmonized settlement and all the boss drops), I've 2 questions:

• Does the lengthy goal of getting 100% familiarity matter if you've found the boss drop? 

• Is it reasonable at the current state of the game to get a Qi core (given the very slow elemental affinity rates)?  Also wanted to verify that only 2 affinities need to reach 10% for it.
