My old software (Wick Editor) has a lot of restrictions, mainly in regards to the art and animation side, along with the frame rate rarely hitting 30fps, despite all my efforts to reduce lag. Rive has few restrictions, allowing me to do ridiculous amounts of moving parts and still outputting at 60fps. After years of having to compromise on what I can draw and animate, I've had enough of using my old software. This means I lose the interactivity part of my animations, but that's a compromise I'm willing to take for the time being. (I have tested embedding animated gifs in HTML5 files, but this results in HTML5 files upwards of multiple gigs in size!).
That said, Rive has announced a new feature called GPU Canvas, which if I understand correctly, means I may be able to make interactive content and deploy it in a standalone file in the near future. This feature is brand new and still buggy, so don't expect me to use it for a while, but in the future I may be able to make infinitely better interactive projects than I have made in the past.
