Thanks for playing ^^! The game has been in development for more than a year now, and since I'm the only one working on it right now, it's really time consuming. Of course, the game will be finished at some point, and I will try to get a new demo out as soon as possible (with 4 more scenes). This new release will also be available on steam, along with the full game.
I'm glad you enjoyed this demo, I hope you're looking forward to all the devlogs and future releases
Thank you!! I'm happy you enjoyed Depth Above and appreciated all the effort that went into it. I'm glad you were able to notice the importance of atmosphere in this game, and how it goes back to some of the titles you mention. A new demo will be released shortly, including not only bug fixes and general updates, but also a handful of new scenes, which will take the horror component even further
Thank you so much! It means a lot that you enjoyed the demo ^^, I'm glad the combat wasn't that big of an issue. Combat mechanics will still be greatly improved for the next build to avoid making encounters tedious tho.
Until the next release, I hope you keep looking forward to the game, since I'll be posting new stuff regularly
Sorry for that, there's probably something wrong with the Linux build itself, as I didn't have any computers with Linux to test the build at the time I released it. I'll try to fix the issue tomorrow, but on the meantime, and if you don't mind you can play the Windows version, that one works perfectly fine.
Sorry for the inconvenience once again, I'll try to fix it asap
Thanks for understanding ^^, and yeah, shortly after the release of this game I started developing Depth Above. For now, you can play the demo for free on the game's page, and while I can't provide an exact release date for the full game, it will be released on steam for a small price, since it's being a lot more ambitious than my previous games.
I'm extremely sorry for that. I'm aware of the state of the game, and fixing everything wrong with it wasn't worth the time. Still, my new game Depth Above basically improves on everything. If you want to play something like Call From Within, play Depth Above, it's honestly just a better game all around with improved gameplay, atmosphere, music and story. I'm sorry this was your first exposure to my games, but with the failure of Call From Within, I used that experience to create a much better game (without game breaking bugs of course)
I hope you enjoy Depth Above if you eventually play it, I'd be extremely happy if you tried it ^^
If you mean these two doors:
The blue-ish one (the door on the left) should lead you to the next scene, so it's very likely that it bugged for some reason, sorry for that. The problem should be fixed by reloading the scene or playing again from where you left off (Select scene in the menu).
It's probably one of those one-time bugs, so (probably) it won't happen again.
I'll take into account what you said about the monster placement tho. I get what you're saying, and while one encounter from the last scene does try to improve this, I think I can add some more dynamics to some combat sections.
Thanks for the comment, I hope you enjoy the rest of the game ^^
Thanks for the comment, I really appreciate the serious feedback. I'm currently working on a major update, so I'll fix the issues you mentioned and add some new stuff as well. I'm aware the combat is not the best, so I'll try to improve it as much as possible for both this major update and the final game.
Thanks for playing! Regarding the medkit, clicking on it already sets it as "current health item", which you can see at the bottom of the inventory. Once the current health item is set to medkit, you can go back to the game and press B to use it. I guess it isn't that clear, I'll try to fix that on the next update.
When it comes to the monster, it's the first time I've heard that happening. Did the monster play any sound before standing still? It could be that the monster died, but the death animation didn't play
I hope you enjoyed the game regardless ^^
Simple and effective. These are the key words to describe this game for me. I really think that you nailed the atmosphere with the graphical style, sounds and ambience. The game is simple in the way that it doesn't require that many elements to scare the player, since the atmosphere does all the job.
I'm a huge fan of atmosphere-focused horror, and I think this game is a really great example of this. Keep up the good work ^^
