I seem to have the same issue. On a previous version there was a text document that was titled "warning" with some code, was that essential?
I don't know if it will help but I found a "new character" at the bottom left of the opening screen.

I can select the phone but using it on gem doesn't prompt the call. I'll try redownloading it.
I just started it and I can't call dad to open the window.
