I solved the problem. One of the two credentials in Play Games Services was still in draft and unpublished. This caused an UNAUTHENTICATED error before submitting the score. Now works. thanks

Yes, of course
Player profile: public and accessible
Distribution: Google Play Internal Testing
Build type: Release AAB installed from Google Play Store
Play Games Services: enabled and published
Authentication: working correctly
Leaderboard display: working correctly, leaderboard loads successfully but is empty
App package name, Play Games Services application ID and OAuth Android client fingerprint are the same both on the game and on Google Play Services.
Problem
When the game ends and I submit a score to the leaderboard, the submission fails.

What I have already checked:
The Google Play Games profile is public.
Authentication succeeds (signed_in=true).
The leaderboard exists and is published.
The app is installed from Internal Testing as a release build.
The Play Console configuration appears correct:
package name and application ID are OK
OAuth Android client with the expected fingerprint
The leaderboard ID used in code matches the one from the Play Console.
I set an achievement and it worked like a charm.
Issue remains only for submit leaderboard score
There seems to be an issue when saving scores to the leaderboard. Authentication is working correctly, and I can successfully display the leaderboard, which is currently empty. However, something goes wrong when submitting a score at the end of a game, even though I am using the same leaderboard ID and the leaderboard has been published in Google Play Services.
