If I download now, will it get the update, or will I have to re-download when the update is released?

I originally didn't realize the journal had ways to progress so I spent five days just having fun in the backstreets. And I mean five real days, not in-game. And despite thinking it was incomplete, I loved it and marked it as my favorite. And then I realized I was just stupid and there were tasks, and oh my god. I loved this so much!!
