Update: got to 186 before the game crashed. Modified version of the strategy using the Stinger with Shattered Aspect to pick up both Dragoon and Paladin and a bunch of Shelters to keep the stats pumping up. Random damage fails against Lonely Witch but regular damage is sufficient to keep going, though it takes a while to chip through the massive health bars. The build would probably have eventually failed against Black Knights spawning too far in the hand and halving health enough times that regular attacks could chip through it, but I think it would have managed to get to 250 or so if the game hadn't crashed.

Got to 110. Dragoon using Shattered Aspect to pick up the Paladin ability so everyone's damage is reduced to 1, and a the rest of the hand is supports. Obelisk and Shield to quadruple health, obelisk and Shelter for +2/+2 every combat, Noble for another +1/+1, Charged for double attack and Prismatic for triple damage. The only things it had trouble with were Black Knights (halve your health) and some of the bosses. It would be equally effectve to use a Paladin with Shattered Aspect picking up the Dragoon ability.
Before this point, I was carried through most of the main game by a Stinger with the Shield/Obelisk setup. Immediate counterattack with random damage equal to remaining health + quadruple health. Comfortably defeated the Dragon on the first encounter while the Dragoon setup was still in the early stages of coming online.
