This VN really gave me a lot to think about. I've always been conflicted about what it means to be selfless: is it selfless if you get satisfaction from helping people? do you need to be on equal footing with someone to love them? is it wrong to want something in return?
I've never read a story that addresses these ideas so directly. And that's not even the half of it: there were a ton of thought-provoking dialogues (I won't list them because I don't want to spoil it for anyone reading) that got me thinking about things like self-esteem, sexuality and validation, and how respect plays into romantic relationships. I actually got so engrossed in it that I stayed up reading until 4 AM when I had work the next day lol.
Really great story. So real.
