Man, this ended up being a much more touching and personal experience than I thought it'd be. Loved it.

Honestly? Props for the dedication alone lmao

Lmao this is really good

The meteor completely being glossed over really got me

Really interesting premise. Hit me right in the feels, too.

Awesome game so far! Can't wait to see what comes of it ^^

Cute little game! Had a really good time with it. The freeze frame mechanic was really interesting and I had fun experimenting with it ^^

I did find the control scheme for keyboard to be a little weird, but otherwise it's great so far haha

Really fun so far! Looking forward to seeing what else comes of it ^^

Just finished playing through the v0.1c demo! Loving it so far, gave some feedback through the form, and looking forward to seeing what comes of this! ^^

I've only been using rt-shell, but it's been one of the most reliable tools for debugging in my games, thank you!

Amazing little demo you got here! Looking forward to seeing what you make of it!

Best game 2023

Did enjoy :3

Don't think I didn't notice the easter egg on the chalkboard haha

Thanks for the mention ^^

Woo!

Can't wait to see how everyone did ^^

I wonder if we'll see any last-minute entries.

Ah, cool, Looking forward to it :3c

Peak gaming right here

Thanks, I appreciate it ^^

This is a fun little game, good work!

Neat little game and concept, it'd be cool to see more from it! ^^

Hi! The server keeps telling me it has an error indexing a couple of Draw GUI events, specifically where a string starts with a unicode character reference, calling it an "unclosed string".  Screenshots of where the errors point to here.

This has lead to these events not being updated when I call for it. If anyone has any idea why this is, lemme know. Thanks!

Because when you make something, it has an inherent uniqueness to it, since you're the only one that could have made it exactly the way you did, and that makes it special. That and as a creative outlet or to just have fun, yknow

Thanks, I'm glad you liked it! ^^

I like this, it's fun to mess around with and make patterns or whatever. Scratches an itch I didn't know I had.

Awesome, joining now! I use the same username that I do on here.

I would like to chat more with you guys if anyone is at all interested. I'm not sure how we could do this, though. One thing that comes to mind is that I could make a Discord server, but I'm open to ideas.

Cool stuff, can't wait to see what you do with this! ^^

Thanks, I appreciate it!

Awesome, thank you! ^^

Sorry for the accusation, like I said I tend to get anxious with these kinds of things.

That makes sense, I was a little worried you could just declare yourself the winner and make the contest pointless, but that's probably just my anxiety talking.

Can't wait for that either! I do wonder why you're participating in your own game jam though, it's a little unusual.

Ah, seems I have some competition! Looks good so far, can't wait to see what you make!

You're really not lmao

That's kind of the point of a game jam, seems they submitted all of their projects to it this time though, dude's really reaching

Yeah, I saw earlier and reported it, seemed like they mass submitted it to a lot of jams that had nothing to do with it lmao

Yeah, I can see it! I didn't really put much about her personality on it like you did but I explained it earlier and I'd like to think I put a good amount in the game itself, but yeah, feel free to add her to whatever you're working on next ^^

Here's an actual ref of Violet! Hopefully this'll be enough to use haha

Awesome, lemme know what you think ^^

I'll post it once I make a proper ref of her, but I'll drop an animation I made in the meantime.

Her name is Violet and she's a calico catkin witch, specializing in all kinds of magic in a place where it isn't exactly prevalent. She's fairly sarcastic and snooty but she means well.

Got it, I needed an excuse to fiddle with RPGMaker 2003 since I got it on Steam while it was on sale. I'm sure whatever comes out of it will be interesting haha

In the game I'm working on, I'm planning on having a catkin make her way to Endra through a magical artifact. Would that be allowed?

I'm sure it's no surprise I'm under one of this guy's games again with another review. This time, he was nice enough to give me a copy of this game for playtesting, which I'm very thankful for.

Back on topic, Bananarang: The Scattered Shards is a platformer with light action and puzzle elements. In the main stages, you collect all the crystal shards to advance, and boss stages at the end of each world should explain itself.

Each main stage contains 30 shards to collect, most requiring some condition to be met. Most of them require having a certain boomerang equipped, which is done by swapping them out using special blocks, but there is quite a bit of variety. Sometimes there are enemies, but outside the first couple worlds they are meant to be avoided rather than defeated. Getting hurt is no big deal, as health is regenerated over time. Even then, (outside a certain world) shards collected is maintained after dying, but enemies respawn and your boomerang is reset.

This game had a bit of a different approach to boss design. The fights mostly consist of surviving until they become vulnerable, then you hit them five times in one way or another before they lose health. It places a heavy emphasis on memorizing patterns and more importantly being patient. Health regen seems to be a bit faster during these stages, so there is a lot of room for error.

That being said, I should mention that it is heavily recommended to look through at least some of the enclosed Player's Guide before and while playing, as some of its information isn't conveyed in-game, but even so I've only needed to look a few times.

Either way, this game is definitely the most solid game this dev has made thus far, and I'd like to thank him again for reaching out to have me test it. I look forward to its release!
