I’m using PDF expert! The other oracle is Encounter Building Cards - Decisions
I haven't even bought this game yet but it's still exciting to read about your progress! I'm glad you're feeling better. I'm definitely picking this up when its finished.
As to making a book of tables I think that's a great idea. I have a dungeon crawling game where the rules are in one book and all the tables are in another. It makes playing it much easier. The other alternative is to replicate all tables at the back, but that ramps up the page count. Your final option is to merely reference the tables in the main text of the book and have all the tables grouped at the end of the book. I have seen all of these options and all of them are great. The only choice I wouldn't favour is not picking one of them as any table heavy game can lead to a lot of bothersome flicking backwards and forwards between pages.
If you enjoy solo roleplaying on your pc then you need this great little program. Once installed it works anywhere that you type! In this way it supports whatever your favourite writing software might be. It contains the author’s three solo roleplaying engines which I highly recommend and the very well liked Mythic.
I also want to say that I run Linux on my PC (Ubuntu LTS) and Jensen tirelessly helped me move mountains to get it to work for me. He is a great guy and I am very grateful for the time he gave me!
Whether or not the current revisions reflect the final layout of PUM I have to say I’m very impressed by the amount of hard work and creative thinking you’ve put into this emulator. However it ends it quite possibly could be my favourite.
7.2 looks very cool. It shares some common ground with ‘Radiance’, a card deck system that I very much like right now and of course ‘Mythic’, whilst also being entirely its own thing.
It also justifies my restless shifting from one system to another. It was worth it!
Hi. I’m trying to run this on Ubuntu Linux.
If I place your folders in .config/espanso/config it doesn’t work. If I move them all to .config/espanso/match I can get :dd and :arr to work and nothing else.
It appears that you just need to advise me on the correct placement of the folders. Thanks!
Also anyone trying to run espanso on Ubuntu 22.04 will fail unless you run xorg instead of wayland(default) at the login screen (cog - bottom right of screen). This drove me nuts until I figured it out!
Sorry this has been a long time coming. I'm fighting a stubborn infection. Some things I picked up from 5.1:-
P.15 "If 1 Companion: Lose the only" an incomplete sentence even tho' its obvious.
P.23 "Events are things that obstacles or by-chances that happen to you between locations" . I believe swapping out the first "that" with "like" makes the sentence scan properly.
P.24 "If you have enough lore/tracks to complete you quest". Clearly swap "you" for "your".
P.25 "The result will provide you how hard it is to get through the current challenge facing you." Just insert a missing "with" between "you" and "how".
P.33 "For a free attacks". Should be "For a free attack"
As for game play I think sydbarrettlives had it right, broadly speaking. I see you have made changes in this direction. I'd say its looking good!
Thanks for the clarification.
I completely understand your concern with combat. Keeping things simple is what your game is all about. I think maybe the answer could be thinking of Range & Melee as tags? On page 19 when a boss has ‘flying’ you must hit once with a ranged attack before you can melee. You might be able to differentiate between melee and ranged by creating a couple of exceptions for normal combat. I need to think this over…
Loving this game. Particularly the combat which uses some unique ideas I’ve never seen before :-) Some questions…
1 - Is there a mechanical difference between ranged & melee weapons?
2 - The oracle gives the possibility of enemy alternate attacks. Will you be implementing this in the future?
3 - What is the process of gaining further spells?
Thanks!
Hi Cody,
I’ve been keeping my eye on this game’s development. Its coming along just great. Here are some things I’ve seen in V.4
* P.10 - “HP, Wounds, and Defense do not max out at 6 and can be increased in value from” . From what? Also defense should be defence.
* P.13 - Ancient One. What is an Ancient One? They are mentioned nowhere else in the book. I’m guessing Giants?
* P.23 - Something went wrong under the ‘Challenges’ heading. Neither of the paragraphs finish! The first ends with “your…” the second ends with “then…”.
* P.28 - “and adventurer” should be “an adventurer”
*P29 - At first we have “The difficulty score (DS) indicates the number you will need to beat to proceed” further down the page it says “Compare this result to the DS of the event. If you meet or beat the DS, the Event is a success!” . We need clarification here. Is it roll above the DS or roll equal to or above the DS?
* P.45 - Shadow Events. It says “draw a card” but you must mean roll a D6 as the table being referred to has only 6 entries.
I hope this helps.
Regards
Richard
Thanks for the swift reply :-) So to summarise: If you enter a blank hex and roll raiders there is no official ruling. Until there is you may conduct a one off combat then roll the faction again (ignoring raiders, unless you are a glutton for punishment!) or ignore the raider result entirely and roll again.
Great! I can begin my game as that hex was my very first move.
Hi. If a hex is a faction location and I roll raiders how is this handled? I can’t interact like other factions. Should I make it a raider camp? If so small or large? Or maybe its a one off combat? If so when I cross the hex again am I re-rolling the faction? I’m proper confused! Also the table is on p.23 not p.24 as written.
Looks like a cool game. Can’t wait to start after my initial stall!
