That definitely makes sense! Like I was saying your composition/production is super rad! For mixing if you wanted to dig in deeper I loved reading Nathan Nyquist' books on mixing. Especially EQ, bus compression, and reverb. These were actual game changers for me, regardless though, you have great ideas!
Very much fits the theme! Your composition is super thorough and detailed. I see in the comments you aren't as familiar with crafting your own sound design, which is fine (your sound selection was already super solid), but hearing the same metal hit and slice foley pulled me a bit out of the scene. I think you did a good job with mixing the volume of the tracks but I think you could make some more progress in that area of things. At least maybe a bus for the foley and sfx to give them some glue and cohesion. I think you absolutely locked in on the theme and your production is super solid. Looking forward to seeing you in the next one!
This is one of my favorite submissions to this jam. You absolutely caught the vibe with this. The production is so solid. The only thing was I thought the horns came in a little loud in the final track. Doesnt affect my score at all with you though 5/5 across the board. Plus all the writing is very commendable. Props to you
This is awesome, the tone of your live recordings is super solid. I really enjoyed this listen. I like ur style. I will say though I thought the bitcrush got a bit extreme. The lyrics are kind of hidden thus its hard to relate it back to the theme, which besides the theme of the jam, is a stylistic choice I rather enjoy. Good song, man
Haha I appreciate the praise. I wish I'd had some more time to work on this, but despite kind of missing the whole point of the jam, Im glad the reception of the track has been favorable. Also Jiggyicarus is a rad name. Icarus getting jiggy too close to the Sun. Take care bro, see you in the next one!
The trap section and little fill there were so clean. The ambient sections were super beautiful and solid. Everything was panned really well, albeit i think the hihat in the left ear was a little too present and kind of had a monopoly over that space. the trap snare you used was a little dark and muddy in my opinion as well, i think you could've used a snappier snare with a bit more high end. But those are really all my gripes, I like the sound you developed! Looking forward to seeing you in future jams!
I rlly enjoyed Journey. Super cinematic. That rolling bass and splashy synth are very good selection/ sound design. The sound selection as a whole and mixing is very nice. Taking a guess its valhalla supermassive? The tails at 2:40 sound super familiar.
In The Discovery, I needa point out the transition thing u got going on at 1:18 seems really... lacking. Seems like theres gonna be some kind of change but it just goes right back. I rlly like the chord progression on this one though, and the percussion too.
Several thoughts on this entry haha, first off thank you for providing 3 formats of submission for each song. Respect. I love that youre running Windows 7 on a Virtual Box, thats the hardest shi i've seen. Also Renoise is new to me, that DAW looks like UI hell so again, respect.
Deep Space Cruise Control was my favorite. Radical grooves, had my ears on edge the whole time.
